The Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle is one of the newest races at the Cheltenham Festival.
Parnell Properties Mares' Novices' Hurdle Betting Tips
The Mares’ Novice’ Hurdle race is yet another race that has been a field day for the Willie Mullins yard, winning all but one renewal (last year) since the race became a fixture at the Cheltenham Festival, so it’s no surprise to see his horses at the top of the market.
I don’t really have a strong opinion in this race, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see an upset, or horses at decent-sized odds finishing in the places, as it’s quite difficult to weigh up the form. All I know is that based on one run, which was a romp, I will not be backing DINOBLUE. The fact she is 5/2 and getting shorter is a bit of a joke, as even though she won with ease and could be a monster, she could be a total hype job. We saw Gaelic Warrior have his bubble burst on day 1, so it wouldn’t be a surprise for this to happen as well.
BRANDY LOVE has been another hype horse aimed for this race. But, at least she has shown more form than the favourite, but I think she can be dodged as well. She seems a bit crazy, especially based on her most recent run. She was jumping out to the left, looked to take a pull, and even though this left-handed track will suit, I think she is far too quirky to get involved at short odds.
I think the fact that GRANGEE has course form from the Champion Bumper from last year and looks a strong stayer at the trip she is worth chancing in this race. The soft ground won’t be an issue, and I expect her to be running on strongly up the hill when others might be tiring. On paper, she has to reverse form with a few in this, but at the odds, I think she is worth siding with. I know connections were buzzing about her going hurdling this year, and even though it’s not exactly worked out to how they’d want, I think there is more ability than what we’ve seen.
For the British, LOVE ENVOI is up there for being the best chance. She will love the ground, seems a stayer, but the form of her Sandown win doesn’t exactly always translate to races like this at these big meetings, so can be watched, but is an EW player. NINA THE TERRIER looks to be better over further these days, but with that stamina in abundance, could be running herself into a place.
