RACE three on day three is the Ryanair Chase, run over two miles five furlongs for horses aged five and over. Formed in 2005 and replaced the Cathcart Challenge Cup.
Un De Sceaux – Willie Mullins 3-1 10bet
Looked nailed-on to run in this for a while now unless anything went wrong with Douvan. Un De Sceaux is another Mullins horse that has a good chance. Won the 2015 Arkle and second in last year's Champion Chase when beat by Sprinter Sacre. This season's Tingle Creek and Clarence House also went his way and he is the horse to beat and is a worthy favourite although he won’t get it all his own way.
Empire Of Dirt – Gordon Elliott 5-1 10bet
One of the Grand National controversy horses who will now concentrate on Cheltenham and not the National. Second last time out in the Irish Gold Cup beaten by Sizing John but is rated 9lb inferior to Un De Sceaux. Only run twice since last year's Plate win at the festival with a second and a win, the second last time out was good form and can’t be discounted for this race.
Uxizandre – Alan King 11-2 10bet
Winner of this race in 2015 and one of my selections that year. He has only had one run since then which was a second to Un De Sceaux in this year's Clarence House Chase after 688 days off which was an excellent run all things considering and must have eachway claims.
Sizing John – Mrs J Harrington 11-2 10bet
Won the Irish Gold Cup in February against a decent field and his only defeat this season was an 8l loss to Douvan. Available at 10-1 for the Gold Cup he isn’t guaranteed to run in this race but would have a decent chance.
Josses Hill – Nicky Henderson 9-1 10bet
Ran a decent race in the King George even if he was last. But apart from the winner Thistlecrack all the others were quite closely bunched, he could only manage 8th in this race last year but he does seem to be running better this season.
