TIGER ROLL stole the headlines on Wednesday as the two-time Grand National winner claimed a remarkable fifth win at the Cheltenham Festival.

Winning by 18 lengths from Easyslands, Tiger Roll looked back to his best after some recent defeats, for a popular win. It's a shame we won't see him get the chance to win a third Grand National in a few weeks time.

Thursday looks like it's all about Envoi Allen on Day Three at the Cheltenham Festival. Voice of Value reckons he's one the bets of the week and it's hard to disagree.

Check out his and my race-by-race tips below and read our more in-depth thoughts by clicking each race's name.

Race-by-Race Tips & Racecard

⭕️ 1.20 Marsh Novices’ Chase

“ENVOI ALLEN is as close to an absolute stone cold certainty as you can get in the weird and wonderful world of jumps racing.”

  • Thommo's Tip
  • Voice of Value's Tip
    • Envoi Allen 8/13 as part of your multiple win bets

⭕️ 1.55 Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle Tips

“He was sent off joint favourite to land last year’s Kim Muir Chase (seventh) but seems happier horse racing over the smaller obstacles.”

  • Thommo's Tip
    • Champagne Platinum 6/1 (Casumo)
  • Voice of Value's Tip
    • The Bosses Oscar 2pt ew at 7-1 with Paddy Power (5 places)

⭕️ 2.30 Ryanair Steeple Chase

“This is the hardest race of the week to pick a selection in. No doubt about it. I can make a case for literally 10 of them and it looks like being a fantastic race.”

  • Thommo's Tip
  • Voice of Value's Tip
    • Imperial Aura 2pt ew at 7-1 with Betfair (paying 5 places)

⭕️ 3.05 Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle

“He is a class act over both hurdles and fences and although his hurdles rating is lower than his chase rating he was mugged in the Pertemps last year”

  • Thommo's Tip
  • Voice of Value's Tip
    • The Storyteller 2pt ew at 10-1 with Ladbrokes, Coral, SkyBet (all 4 places)
    • Already advised: Sire Du Berlais ew at 9-1 antepost

⭕️ 3.40 Paddy Power Plate

“Mullins has left no stone unturned and he gave The Shunter a ‘sighter’ at Cheltenham in November when thumping brave Ballyandy in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle, landing a juicy gamble in the process”

  • Thommo's Tip
  • Voice of Value's Tip

⭕️ 4.15 Mares Novices’ Hurdle

“There are a few in with a shout here and it always helps to keep an eye on Willie Mullins' entries (his record with mares at the festival is eye-watering) “

  • Thommo's Tip
  • Voice of Value's Tip
    • Roseys Hollow 2pt ew at 11-2 with Sky Bet (paying 5 places)

⭕️ 4.50 Kim Muir Challenge Cup

“He is a bold jumping front runner which admittedly is a tricky thing to do round here but if you needed any encouragement you just have to watch Vintage Clouds' win on Tuesday where he made virtually all over a similar distance.”

  • Thommo's Tip
  • Voice of Value's Tip
    • Storm Control 1.5pt ew at 18-1 with William Hill (paying 5 places)
    • Kilfilum Cross 1pt ew at 18-1 with William Hill (paying 5 places)

While there are a good few posting here has ADMIN or the troops here any idea if DUNCAN POUNDCAKE is still around.
It’s a name I’ve seen here for years, only posted periodically but the few tips he posted were very consistent and came across as a decent bloke too.
    Just wondered 🏇

I did Elvis and thanks for asking, friends helped out with all sorts but it was still torture!
Had to break out the auld Nintendo 64 now I’m addicted again! Lol ⛳️
Just starting to feel my old self last 3/4 days as I do a lot of long walks dog or no dog and I was struggling with my breathing on my usual routes?
An for a guy that just turned 40 it certainly wasn’t normal but credit to NHS and trace n track they kept phoning to check up until about this time last week and my isolation was done 6th of March.

Local council phoning to about me getting out for food etc 👍

Up the stunning hills right now, suns out and I’ll watch Cheltenham on the phone. 😁☀️

      Cheers Elvis and GL today

Bit of a mixed bag yesterday but still plenty of winners on the thread so well done to all.

Right lads……Day 3 and probably the most competitive days racing of the festival and I cant wait.

Last Nov I placed a €5.00 ew treble, and apologies in advance for the aftertiming, on the following.

    Galvin 11/2 WON
    Monkfish 8/1 WON
    Sire Du Berlais 10/1 pending

I did it as a cover bet for Next Destination and Thyme Hill. I thought Galvin was a good thing and put him in as my anchor.
    Squeaky bum time !!!

    Marsh

    Envoi Allen should stroll this

    Pertemps

Have Imperial Alcazar antepost but I also like Mrs Milner at 14/1.
The fact that she’s here I think is significant as now that Next Destination didn’t run it makes Mrs Milner his only runner at the festival and the hassle of coming over with brexit etc they must think its worth it.

    Ryanair

2 in this, Fakir D’oudairies and Samcro.
Runners who fell on their last run before the festival have a dreadful record. In total just 7 winners from 202 races since 2003 in 0-10 2018, 0-13 2019 but there was 2 winners last year but that has turned me off Min.
I thought FD ran really well lto and I think this trip will really suit. But he tends to find 1 too good so I’ve also backed Samcro who is 2-2 at Cheltenham and most definitely a spring horse.

    Stayers

As I mentioned already on SDB but have also backed Fury Road who ticks lots of trend boxes.
No horse that was beaten in this race has ever won it. The last 3 winners all ran in the previous Albert Bartlett.
SDB has won the Pertemps for the past 2 years so obviously loves the track.

    Plate

No strong fancy in this but have backed Fils D’oudairies as I thought he ran really well last time against Envoi Allen giving him something to think about.

    Mares Novice

I’m on Gauloise AP but I also put up Glen’s of Antrim on an antepost thread last week. At the time she was 14s, I hope some followed as she’s as low as 6s now and wouldn’t be surprised if she went off fav.
She has the best form in the race even though she’s yet to win.

    Kim Muir

Since Run Wild Fred was pulled I havent a clue about this race. He was so well h’capped.
I’ll decide closer to the time

Good wins on Galvin and especially Monkfish m8 that be some ante post win. Here’s hoping for you!
Had Monkfish by 6l yesterday at 5/6 and a double with CPS.👎

Only ante post I had(kinda) was Appreciate it and Envoi Allen at 15/8 so I hope he pisses It as I was in profit till I got going in the US last night.

A day to forget for me yesterday. Apologies to anyone who followed any of my horses in my bet. Well done to anyone who picked a winner. There’s a lot if big fields today so it’s a bit of a lottery in my eyes. Nothing standing out at any of the other meetings, so I will concentrate on Cheltenham. Will pick out a lucky 15 tomorrow and hopefully pick some winners. Good luck everyone 🤞

Pete, what do you think of Son of the Somme in the 2.55 at Hexham, beaten over 30 lengths last time, but first two were Patroclus who was joint favourite for a Grade 1 last Saturday and Riggs who finished second in the same Grade 1, available at 40/50 to 1.

      2
  7. theplug 3 years ago

Race 1 Envoi Allen 4/9 have him i a few accs cant see him beat

Race 2 Champagne Platinum 13/2 this is a another bad race for the favs .,but what i do like is horses that started hurdling and then went chasing then went back hurdling have a good record in this race.
Also i backed Brinkley David pipe won this race twice and had 5 placed so 18/1 must be worth a ew bet .

Race 3 i have to stick with Min 5/1 won this in a ding dong battle last year with St Calvados .Lightly raced think he have a good chance of winning again.

Race 4 I am with DC on this one i cant see Paisley Park winning back his title. I am also going with Sire De Berlais 9/2. All ready a two time winner over 3 mls here so trip should be no problem..

Race 5 A wave of the sea 9/1 .Surely j p will win one of these big Handicaps hopefully.it will be this one .

Race 6 SKYACE this is the one we have all been waiting for at home in Wexford .My daughters boyfriend is part owner .I am sure by now most of you know this little mare was bought for 600 pound .Shark went to the sales in Ascot to buy this mare for in the region of 10 to 15,000 pound .But with know reserve price on her they got her for the 600.they couldn’t believe their luck .She won 4 races for them now including GR3 X a Listed the last 2 races .We backed her when she won at 66/1 and 28/1 so we then backed her for this race at 50/1.She went into 9/1 up to yesterday but don’t worry about the drift ,now 18/1 that happened the last 2 races .If she is on a going day we think she have a great chance of winning. I was listening to David Mullins podcast last week and he said if people let this horse go off double figures people should give up backing horses .If she was still with willie she would be odds on for this race the exact words he said. So you can imagine we will lift the roof off the house if she wins. 18/1 now ,good luck if you back her🤞

Race 6 Kilfilum Cross 16/1 second last year and Alex Edwards had to turn pro just to ride this horse, so to me that’s a tip in itself .best of luck tomorrow

    12

    Fakir D’oudairies 4 places

    The Shunter 5 places
    Glens of Antrim 5 places

Speaking to one of my mates on the phone this morning who has his own sparkies business, he was telling me that one of the young lads that works with him got a free bet(don’t know which bookies) on Tuesday, he did a through the card accumulator at Cheltenham. The first four all won and they offered him £382 cash out which he declined, he then won the fifth race with Black Tears, they offered him a cash out of just under £5500 which he took. What a call, as his next horse was Busselton which was nowhere!!

Of all the horses in the line up, odds It had to be Envoi Allen ?? I think to avoid dirty games bookies falling horses should be a no bet. That creates a level playing field. Otherwise the punter is not protected.

Complete washout until a 1-2 in the 4-15.
Bit of damage limitation but bookies beat me today.

    Lucky last
Bob Mahler 25-1 ew 5 places.

Townshend 100-1 ew 5 places and 20-1 ew extra 10 places.

Alright lads, just wanting a bit of advice.

I’ve put together a 4 Fold each way bet for Cheltenham tomorrow, would you say it is better doing it as an acca, Lucky 15 or a Yankee?

    • theplug 3 years ago

      lucky 15 kyle b

only you can answer that. what are the selections/prices?? what is the stake per line??

there is no point putting 50p on doubles if you have even money shots, if i was you i’d do a 4 fold and then a decent stake on the trebles, then if you fancy one or two of the doubles in particular, pair them up individually and set the stake you want..

Cheers for responses fellas, very rare for me to have a bet on the horses. I’ve gone with a Lucky 15, shortest odds on a selection is 16/1 so it is an extreme Longshot. GL through rest of Cheltenham lads!

Still can’t get it going at Cheltenham, although a bit better today.

Fakir D’Oudairies, Farclas and Shantou Flyer win singles, doubles and treble, all placed, but couldn’t get their nose in front.

Fusil Raffles 16/1, Dandy Mag 20/1 and Skyace 20/1 all placed in an ew lucky 15, unfortunately the 4th horse The Storyteller was one out of the places.
