A STUNNING day today (Tuesday) with some cracking winners, most notably my bet of the week in the shape of Vroum Vroum Mag. We also had Douvan bolting up to get the accumulator off to the perfect start and Nichols Canyon, Morning Assembly and Bridgets Pet placed at nice each way prices. As a result I am now full of Guinness and Jack Daniels. Thoroughly unprofessional stuff.
So without further ado, let’s get involved in Wednesday’s action where there are plenty of value picks and hopefully a few short priced favourites that can bring us some profit from the multiple bets…
Neptune Investment Management Novices Hurdle
- 1.30pm
- 2 miles 5 furlongs
- For novice hurdlers
- No age restriction
Another race for novice hurdlers, similar to the Supreme from Tuesday but run over a further 5 furlongs which means we are looking for a classy hurdler who has also given signs that he will be able to travel the extra distance.
It might come as a surprise that the short-priced favourite isn’t trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by Ruby Walsh but Yanworth is actually an Alan King horse and will be ridden by Barry Geraghty. His last performance here in January was swashbuckling and given the fact that he won over course and distance he is quite rightly the favourite for this race as a result.
However, I think the best piece of form coming into the race though is Yorkhill’s win in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown. The second placed horse that day was O O Seven who has won since and the third placed horse was Agrapart who subsequently bolted up in the Betfair Hurdle. The form of the Betfair Hurdle has also been boosted by Flying Angel since then so I think that is rock solid. Add in Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins factor and I think YORKHILL could be the way to go here.
As an aside, I’m stunned that Long Dog hasn’t been declared for this. I can only assume that he is either struggling with an injury or has been rerouted to the Albert Bartlett. Very disappointing given that Rich Ricci and Wille Mullins had confirmed that this was the race for him.
Recommendation:
- YORKHILL – 2pts win at 9/4 (Ladbrokes)
- Already advised – Long Dog – 1 pt e/w at 16/1 (now non-runner)
