Cairnzy returns with another sole Racing selection after Glorious Breeze returned a winning selection yesterday.
It looked like William Cox was going to win on the bridle. I was waiting on him pushing the button a furlong out to go on and win comfortably but for some strange reason, he waited till the final one hundred yards.
He won the race in the end but it didn’t need to be that way.
I’ve opted to stay at Salisbury tomorrow for my sole selection and hopefully, we can get some luck there again.
Tempus 4/1 – 4:15 Salisbury
Only 4 go to post for this class 1 at Salisbury tomorrow but nonetheless, it should be a cracking little race.
With Sinjarri racing at this level for the first time and unproven I’ve decided to score him out. The same applies to the Andrew Balding trained Berkshire Shadow who hasn’t been up to much this year and looked out of sorts at Goodwood a couple of weeks ago when finishing 6th in a 7-runner field.
That then brought me to the final two runners. Modern News was trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick and my selection Tempus was trained by Archie Watson and ridden tomorrow by Hollie Doyle.
Modern News had the better of Tempus when these two last met. Tempus has over 4 lengths to find on Modern News and I think it’s more than achievable even though Tempus is no better of at the weights.
Tempus finished 3rd in the Royal Hunt Cup finishing ahead of the likes of Astro King, Sinjarri who runs in this race and Bless Him who has since won and ran very well in defeat when finishing 2nd.
Tempus then went on to win comfortably at Ascot last time out. So there’s no doubt in my mind that Tempus has improved. That then brings me to my main argument on why I think he can turn the tables with Modern News.
Although consistent I don’t feel Modern News has really progressed, at least not to be worthy of an even-money favourite. If you enjoy taking on a short-priced favourite I think Tempus is a cracking bet at 4s.
