IT was a shock to the system (not to mention the pocket) when GLEAMING SUN (1.55) failed to land a gamble eight days ago but loses should be recouped on a return visit to Southwell.
Mick Easterby sends the gelding up in trip to a mile after Gleaming Sun had failed to overhaul Dream Ally. He lost a couple of lengths when missing the kick at the start and that proved vital in the closing stages.
A good performance from Gleaming Sun would enhance the prospects of DREAM ALLY (5.25) following up under a 6lb penalty. Hat-tricking seeking Da Capo Dandy should help make the market for Dream Ally.
SALLAB (6.45) is fancied to land a tricky novice stakes at Chelmsford City.
Richard Hannon’s colt was given an indifferent ride at Lingfield, running on into third from a hopeless position. Frankie Dettori takes over the reins and his mount holds Narcos on a line through Night Castle. Wide-margin course winner Commander Han looks the one to beat.
