MY BRUNETTE (4.10) has the look of a good thing in the Median Auction Maiden at Wolverhampton.
She made a satisfactory debut at Windsor 50 days ago, running fourth to a couple of rivals rated in the high 70s. My Brunette's only serious rival, Joys Delight, is rated 60 and Geoffrey Deacon's filly should come on from that initial outing.
The horse which finished fifth at Windsor, Ciaoadiosimdone, came out to beat Meccabah at Wolverhampton to give the form a boost.
Joys Delight is still a maiden after 11 starts but she ran well when third to Arrowzone and Miss Mirabeau here last month. Miss Mirabeau was turned out six days later to win at Chelmsford City, but it was fairly low-grade affair. It looks a straight match.
ROYAL RESERVE (2.40) opened 5-1 in places early last night but that didn't last long.
David O'Meara stepped him up to two miles for the first time at Kempton and he ran a cracker in third spot behind Soldier In Action.
His earlier second to Ply over a shorter distance, also at Kempton, was another solid effort and Royal Reserve scored on his sole visit to Wolverhampton in July so we know he handles Tapeta.
ARCHIPELIGO (12.40) has been a bit of a monkey on occasions but if all eight stand their ground in the opener he is well worth an each-way nibble.
He would be hard to beat of able to reproduce his Newcastle success in a Class 4 event during the summer and has generally been running okay in better grades than this afternoon's handicap. Iain Jardine has been among the winners, so stable confidence should be high.
Boycie is another dropping in class but who knows what kind of form he is in after a two-month absence.
Jack Of Diamonds is consistent at a lower level and should be in the shake-up.
