IDAHO (3.35) is a very worthy favourite to land the Group 3 Ormonde Stakes at Chester.
Third to Harzand in the 2016 Derby, Idaho had one of his main rivals today, Muntahaa, well beaten in ninth when landing the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot. His third to Enable and Ulysses in the King George was another run straight out of the top drawer and the Aidan O’Brien horse is surprisingly trading at odds against here.
Ballydoyle are doubly represented in the Dee Stakes, with Kenya looking to bounce back from a distant third to Gustav Klimt in the Leopardstown mud. He was much better when beating Mcmunigal in a Group 3 at the Dublin track last October but Ryan Moore has opted for Rostropovich, a Group 2 winner at the Curragh last August.
It’s difficult splitting the O’Brien pair and MY LORD AND MASTER (2.25) could be another big scalp for William Haggas.
The colt beat stablemate Young Rascal by six lengths when landing his maiden at Nottingham last season and that horse gave the form a huge boost yesterday. My Lord And Master comes here on the back of a close second to Crossed Baton at Epsom last month and looks progressive.
Rastrelli should go well for the boys in blue. Charlie Appleby and William Buick have started the season in sizzling fashion and Rastrelli was strong at the finish when pulling clear of Bombyx at Newbury last month. A little ease in the ground would be just perfect for the Godolphin gelding.
Tom Dascombe believes the step up in trip will suit Finniston Farm, a running-on third to Anna Nerium in the 7f European Free Handicap at Newmarket, while Fortune’s Pearl gave Mildenberger a serious race in the Feilden Stakes. It’s a cracking contest.
TAVENER (1.50) can go well at a double-digit price in the opening sprint.
Franny Norton is masterful around the Roodee and Tavener has a lovely pitch in stall three. He was a bit outclassed at Epsom last time but his earlier all-the-way success at Chelmsford City gives Tavener a sound each-way chance.
KNIGHTLY SPIRIT (4.35) was worried out of it by Ship Of The Fen on deep ground at Doncaster and will be suited by the extra two furlongs. He is just preferred to Wolverhampton winner Ghostwatch, having his first handicap start.
NEVER SURRENDER (5.05) won his maiden over course and distance, making all under Jamie Spencer, and is closely matched with Fast Dancer on their Newbury run behind Lunar Jet. Spencer is back on board Never Surrender.

Still got the afternoon players to go out but the current clubhouse leader on -6 is LUCAS BJERREGAARD
advised at 66/1 for first round leader he looks to have set a good total and we must be looking at least to a top 6 place for a decent payout, who knows maybe even a good 66/1 winner
That total looks even better when you realise that the wind is always a major factor for the afternoon players here
@mr-fixit Interesting stat for the football here, don’t know if it’s been mentioned on the site but in England’s top 5 leagues of all the 16 promoted teams from last season none have been relegated this season,
That must have been a big priced accumulator
Haven’t seen that mentioned but it’s a good stat.

John, is there any substance to the apparent in-house fighting within the BHA? Personally I think its just a storm in a teacup.
Just a few people making more out of issues than they should, issues that don’t really matter,
Steve Harman is the best man for the job and won’t be ousted easily, he has a lot of support in racing and support from some very influential people

The draw at Chester what stalls do you want then.
low numbers against the rails
I always say too much is made of the draw as track position is more important, low is best but that’s mainly because some jockeys are resigned to losing if they have a high draw instead of being determined to get into a good position
