WAR GLORY (2.45) can end a frustrating sequence of placed efforts by landing the 7f handicap at Chester.

Richard Hannon's gelding looked home and hosed when hitting the front a furlong out at Newmarket last time, only to be cut down by Accession. Khamaary was back in sixth and is held on the book.

War Glory had earlier ran third in the mud at Goodwood behind Truth Or Dare and he can go one better than on his last visit to the Roodee when again striking the front a furlong out before being swallowed by Viscount Barfield's devastating late thrust. He handles this quicker surface.

In-form mare Breakable looks sure to make a bold attempt to follow up last year's clear-cut victory in this event when making all. She is ideally berthed in stall two and arrives here on the back on an excellent second to Lincoln Rocks at York last week.

Easy Hamilton scorer Sharp Defence ran really well at Dundalk last time and was most unlucky here in May when hampered down on the rail when travelling strongly, eventually running on into fifth behind Mutawatheb and Masham Star.

There are any number in with a chance in the 1m 5f handicap but WHO DARES WINS (2.10) won't be far away.

At first glance this trip would appear very much on the sharp side as Alan King's gelding was last seen running an excellent third to Thomas Hobson in the 2m 4f Ascot Stakes. Who Dares Wins runs the Roodee well and didn't enjoy the clearest passage when fourth to Montaly in the Chester Cup.

Delving further back in the formbook, Who Dares Wins boasts a five-length course victory over 1m 4f last July and ran well under a penalty a few days later at Nottingham over 1m 6f.

There will be plenty of pace, with potentially well treated three-year-old Cape Coast likely to go forward from his wide draw. Who Dares Wins will be settled off the pace for a late thrust.

My Reward will doubtless attempt to make all as this trip is definitely on the sharp side, especially around the Roodee. The gelding could hardly be in better nick, however, following his second to Magic Circle over two miles at York.

Apphia may surprise a few better fancied rivals and could hit the frame at a big price.

Hugo Palmer's three-year-old got rather stuck in the mud on her last two starts, but didn't perform badly behind To Eternity and God Given respectively.

Perhaps Apphia is better judged on her fifth to Coronet in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot on quicker ground. First-time cheek-pieces are applied.

Graceland's third to Euchen Glen at Ascot was yet another sound effort but she may lack the necessary acceleration to win at this trip.

Mark Johnston's three-year-olds Curlew River and Cape Coast look dangerous lurking at the bottom of the handicap.

The handicapper awarded Curlew River a 9lb rise for her emphatic Brighton success and that seemed to find her out in better company at York behind Fleur Forsyte. This is easier.

Trailblazing Cape Coast was beaten a head by Bin Battuta over 1m 4f at Ascot in July and the winner was only just denied at York last week in a hot handicap.

ANGEL GABRIAL (5.05) hasn't won since landing the 2014 Northumberland Plate on quick ground at Newcastle but the long drought could be about to end.

Richard Fahey's eight-year-old is now 15lb lower on official ratings and there were signs of a revival in the Shergar Cup Stayers at Ascot when Angel Gabrial finished fifth to Euchan Glen, beaten under two lengths.

The winner came out to run a cracker at York last week and Angel Gabrial should get the strong pace he needs to attack off the home bend. Stall one, a sound surface and Adam McNamara's 3lb claim all help.

Dour stayer Arthur MC Bride will probably be rushed up from his outside box in stall 10 and his fourth to Yorkidding over two miles on firm ground at Haydock in May is probably his best run to date.

Course winner Zenafire had Angel Gabrial behind when beating Corpus Chorister here over 1m 5f at the end of July but the track was riding much slower then. He is still a dangerous opponent.

Ya Jammeel is a dual Epsom winner over 1m 4f in lesser company and two miles could well overstretch his stamina. He is another one that likes to force the pace.

St Mary's beat Warp Factor here in May over 1m 4f and she found heavy ground at Ffos Las too much when beaten by Rolling Maul last month.

La Vie En Rose, the only three-year-old, gets in nicely at the foot of the weights and will enjoy underfoot conditions. She got caught too far out of her ground when runner-up at Wolverhampton last time.

At Sandown, EUGINIO (3.35) looks worth an interest in the BetBright Recall Handicap, a Class 2 contest over 1m 2f.

The Hannon-trained colt caught the eye when chasing home Middle Kingdom at Newmarket in April and this Sandown winner emerged with credit when fourth to Frankuus in a strong renewal of the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock.

Monarchs Glen has had a long break since running out of steam behind Khalidi over 1m 3f at Goodwood. This shorter distance looks more suitable for this free-going sort.

MASAR (2.25) carries plenty of stable confidence going into the BetBright Solario Stakes.

After winning a protracted duel with Invincible Army on his debut at Goodwood, Masar stepped up again in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, chasing home classy fillies September and Nyaleti.

Trainer Charlie Appleby reports that his colt ‘has done very well physically since Ascot’ and Masar is a worthy favourite.

NAJASHEE (4.40) is one for favourite backers. Owen Burrows’s colt ran third to Archetype in a blanket finish at Chelmsford City in May before landing a four-runner maiden at Haydock the following month.

Godolphin’s runner-up Big Tour (entered at Chelmsford City this evening) is now rated 86 so Najashee is potentially thrown in here off 78.

GLORIOUS FOREVER (5.20) looks fairly treated in the concluding 1m 2f handicap.

Ed Walker's gelding finished third to Surrey Hope here in June and fourth horse Almoreb dead-heated at Chelmsford City on Thursday. Although no match for Fire Brigade in the mud at Haydock that was another solid effort and he will appreciate this better ground.

On an unusual late afternoon ‘twilight’ card at Hamilton TAXMEIFYOUCAN (6.35) should be hard to beat if the track has retained some moisture after a few warm and dry days.

Keith Dalgleish's gelding is 5lb higher for beating Indian Chief a neck over course and distance last month and the runner-up has since run second at Haydock after scoring quite readily at Beverley. The third horse home was Sepal and we know she has improved leaps and bounds in the interim.

Taxmeifyoucan has been mixing it over hurdles as well this summer, scoring narrowly at Stratford before having an unfortunate experience at Hexham when his jockey became unbalanced and fell off on the run to the final flight.

Katebird made all to thump Duck Egg Blue at Ripon but the runner-up is now 5lb better off. I fancy Katebird will confirm the placings.

Chinese Spirit's fourth to Archi's Affaire over course and distance in July was a sound effort and he steps up to 1m 3f after beating Jay Kay over a mile at Ayr almost three weeks ago.

WHATSTHEMESSAGE (6.00) could be another local winner for the Dalgleish operation, although Isabella is greatly feared.

Whatsthemessage has visited the winner's enclosure four times already this season and she dug really deep to see off the persistent challenge of Roger Varian's To Dibba over an extra furlong.

Isabella, a daughter of Galileo, made all to justify favouritism at Pontefract, beating Simon Crisford's Eagle Creek but she might just set up the race for Whatsthemessage, another who likes to race handily.

Pantera Negra is on a hat-trick after victories at Musselburgh and Beverley, but is raised in class.

INGLEBY SPRING (5.25) is worth an each-way punt in an open-looking Class 6 contest over 1m 1f.

This will be the first time in a while that Richard Fahey’s mare has been professionally ridden and Tony Hamilton has got a good tune out of her in the past.

Jim Goldie’s Rioja Day was a very game winner here last week, rallying when headed to win quite decisively in the end, but Riponion also led when beating Catastrophe. There is the danger they could compromise their chances if duelling for early supremacy.

The meeting opens with a modest 6f amateur riders' handicap and BARON RUN (4.15) makes some appeal at an each-way price.

Karl Burke's gelding ran a belter over course and distance in mid-July when fourth behind Manshood, Inexes and Kenny The Captain. Since then he has twice led at Leicester (on one occasion ridden by today's amateur) before fading into minor places.

The stands' rail has been the place to be in Hamilton sprints this summer, so Baron Run, a five-time course and distance winner, looks perfectly placed in stall 12.
