EXTRA MILE (6.10) should be ideally suited by the stiff 1m 2f trip at Newcastle.

The daughter of Frankel looked momentarily in trouble on the home bend at Chelmsford City a fortnight ago but she soon kicked into turbo-drive to pull readily clear inside the final furlong.

Gerald Mosse is a good booking by Saeed bin Siroor and stall 3 is ideal on this more galloping circuit.

LUMI (6.40) met a very smart sort in Mark Johnston’s colt Big Kitten here last month but had the rest well taken care off.

Karl Burke’s filly meets her own sex this time round and her earlier wide-margin defeat of Velvet Vision was franked when the runner-up scored next time out.

The French have been carrying all before them this spring and Andre Fabre sends his Royal Ascot winner LE BRIVIDO (3.00) across the English Channel with a favourite’s chance in the Abernant  Stakes on the final day of the Craven meeting at HQ.

Le Brivido edged out Spirit Of Valor in the Jersey Stakes that day and the market will probably give a fair indication of what is expected of the two combatants.

Mark Johnston’s BOOK OF DREAMS (5.10) has a welter burden to carry on the strength of his six-length romp on heavy ground at Musselburgh and as long as he is as effective on this drying surface he should be able to defy the handicapper in the Cock O’ The North Handicap at Ripon.

Recommended Bets

  • Newcastle 6.10 – Extra Mile (9-4, William Hill)
  • Newcastle 6.40 – Lumi (9-2, McBookie)
  • Ripon 5.10 – Book of Dreams (6-4, Coral, Ladbrokes)
  • Newmarket 3.0 – Le Brivido (11-4, bet365, William Hill)

Hey JB you hearing anything about Clemmie through your connections I know she must have about a 10% chance of running if that but I’m praying she’s performing so well he decides to just let her run her race what’s your opinion mate ?

    • Johnb 6 years ago

99.9% out which is disappointing from what I had heard as I was told the comments from connections we’re a bit over played and she wasn’t that bad but that doesn’t look the case now

Season long with clemmie being offered 60 pounds would have been on for a decent win maybe I should take it

  10. Johnb 6 years ago

Decent start to the day with Galloway Hills 14/1 coming second, quite an eye catching performance being held up last and being outpaced but finished off the race strongly and comfortably got second in the end, will be looking at a step up in distance after that run

Sad news just coming out, RIP Our Duke

    Message from Jessica Harrington

We are sad to announce Our Duke died this morning following his usual morning exercise. He suffered a massive heart attack. He is a great loss to the Cooper family & our team.

  12. Johnb 6 years ago

Hope you all remembered CROWNTHORPE, he was given to Philippa Racing by Richard Fahey himself as a horse to follow this season, he was in our horses to Follow magazine and it’s easy to see why with a performance like that in the 5:10 Ripon

    • stevie 6 years ago

Heads up before the run would have been helpful.

John, if you had to pick between the 2 of your antepost derby selections who would you pick?

    • Johnb 6 years ago

It would have been Amedeo Modigliani but he is unlikely to run now so it has to be Nelson but most of the value has gone

One horse that is missing because it came in too late was given to us by Charlie Fellowes and is due to run Saturday JEREMIAH
