REDARNA (4.55) can defy top weight in the concluding apprentices’ handicap at Hamilton.
Dianne Sayer’s gelding handles some cut underfoot and wasn’t disgraced at Carlisle behind Royal Shaheen when carrying a 6lb penalty for his Ayr success. Redarna’s jockey rode a winner for Richard Fahey at York last month.
ROCKWOOD (2.50) ran a fine race over course and distance in May when a close-up third to Vive La Difference, before his wide-margin romp at Musselburgh the following month. Karen McLintock gave him a nice rest before Rockwood recorded a good third on his return at Pontefract. Paddy Power’s 22-1 last night looks far too big and Rockwood should go well at an each-way price in what is a very competitive contest.
COLLIDE (2.20), a son of Frankel, wasn’t knocked about when fourth at Pontefract and Hugo Palmer moves him up in distance on easier ground.
John McConnell brings LIARS CORNER (4.20) over from Ireland to contest division two of the 1m 4f Class 6 handicap. His three-year-old was noted running on steadily over 10 furlongs at Navan in mid-July and cheek-pieces are applied for the first time. Handsome Bob should go well under his penalty for winning at Thirsk when stepped up in trip last week, while Flying Focus is another likely to give a good account.
In division one, SEVILLA (3.50) didn’t shape too badly in sixth behind Ralph Beckett’s Cross My Mind in a Class 5 event at Newcastle and is worth chancing on her first start on turf in more than a year.
