THERE are five meetings on Thursday and Alan's four picks all run at Southwell.
Southwell 2.25
BLACK SALT has been a revelation at Southwell, twice scoring with consummate ease over six furlongs. David Barron’s gelding bids to complete his hat-trick this afternoon and will be hard to beat.
Southwell 3.35
PIAZON (3.35) runs the sprint track very well and has his easiest task for some time in the apprentices’ handicap.
Southwell 1.55
By contrast, MR TOP HAT has his first experience of Fibresand but will go close if able to repeat his recent excellent second to Pactolus at Wolverhampton. The gelding, a keen-going sort, made a lot of the running and will appreciate this shorter trip in a race packed with in-form horses.
Southwell 3.0
PEARL ACCLAIM (3.00) is usually campaigned at the minimum trip but is worth chancing over six furlongs in this much weaker grade.

Magens Moon 12.50 clonmel is an interesting runner today.
On 2017 flat form is thrown in today but has shown nothing in 4 hurdle runs to date.
2nd start for new stable and there’s been money for it at most bookies except paddy power who still go 11’s. Do they know something the rest don’t or are they just being generous?
Be interesting to see how it goes today.

gl plug, i just accidentally put the 2nd fav from your race in a treble with danse idol and piazon, luckily got to cash out in the 2 mins between races but if greyed a wins now i’d be a bit gutted :D .. hopefully the drop in class is good for your selection, greyed A got a bit going for it.

need YOUR BAND for my double, so backwardly i have looked at the race after the bet is on. gone off paper form, not watched any races.
Heron loses his 5lb claimer, he was a 6th length 3rd over C&D recently, the horses he lost to have done nothing since and don’t inspire confidence off his legitimate mark of 59, despite Mitchell taking over. Caracas is down another 2lbs and hasnt run since July, he is on an all time low mark but hasn’t done anything at all including over this C&D Contingency Fee is racing off 57, he has been highly tried Alexis Carrington comes from Quinn/Hart, a decent duo but he is 6lbs worse than Contingency Fee when beating him by a neck and shouldn’t be in with a sniff. Sheila’s Empire has pretty similar conditions as to prior races and shouldn’t be worrying us nor should Chorus Of Lies or More Harry.
DURATION (or 58) – won over 2f further off 3lbs lower (55), the horse he beat next time out went up 2lbs and won off 64. The third horse then won it’s next two off 49 and 50 and was 2nd off 63.
LUMEN (or 50) – 3rd rated race, won off 47 then off 50 was dead last when 7/4f, the drop is distance will likely suit and seemingly holds a good chance based on ratings. The horse he beat by 0.5l off 47 was rated 59, having won his last race off 57.
THAHAB IFRAJ – running off its lowest flat mark ever, 45, previous efforts have given us nothing from similar marks. He has also finished dead last twice at this track. However, he is rated 112 over hurdles and won off 109 3 starts back. tempting with Luke Morris on board but this is 4+ furlongs to his usual distance so hopefully we can discount him.
YOUR BAND – runs off 60 again, won off 53 then placed 2nd everytime off 53 56 56 58 and 60. Not filled with confidence given he is even money, but his 3.5l 2nd lto over C&D is something to cling too, Lumen could easily bounce back and I probably wouldn’t mind being on the 6/1 Duration given his form.
