ROCK N ROLLA (3.05) spreadeagled his field at Carlisle nine days ago and a follow-up is very much on the cards at Ayr.
Keith Dalgleish’s gelding is up 8lb for his wide-margin victory over stablemate Zoravan and his earlier third to Aasheq at Hamilton has worked out well. Odds On Oli has developed into a consistent handicapper and may pose the biggest threat.
MYTHICAL MADNESS (4.05) had threatened to come good before romping to a belated success at Epsom last week and a 7lb imposte may not prevent a repeat performance. Vale Of Kent ran flat, beating only one home, but is better than that.
ZYLAN (3.35) lumped 10st 5lb into second spot behind Hugo Palmer’s three-year-old Exprompt at Haydock and Connor Murtagh’s 5lb claim can swing matters his way. Roger Fell’s string continues in great form and Zylan’s previous all-the-way success over Mujassam at Beverley is solid form.
TESTA ROSSA (4.40) is a bit of a wild card in the mile handicap but Jim Goldie’s gelding has dropped to a winning mark again after a period in the doldrums. He showed signs of a return to form when a running-on fourth to improving three-year-olds Glasses Up and Home Before Dusk, and the stable could hardly be in better nick.
The race could suit Testa Rossa’s hold-up style as Pumaflor, Sultan Baybars, and La Sioux have all made the running in the past, while likely favourite Smugglers Creek responded well to a change of tactics when forcing the gallop over seven furlongs here last week.
Racemaker endured a horrid passage at Ripon last week, with his jockey unable to find racing room until it was all too late, and he is another likely to arrive late on the scene in a tricky contest.
