TOP MISSION (4.55) can carry the Godolphin blue silks to victory on a rare raid north to Ayr by Saeed bin Suroor.
The four-year-old probably found the ground too lively when running fourth to Elwazir at Ascot in midsummer and Top Mission ran a close third to useful Almoreb in a Newbury maiden (soft) last May.
SAINT EQUIANO (4.20) pulverised his rivals with a bold front-running display at Ayr’s September festival and he can defy a justifiable 8lb rise on a return to his favourite track.
REDARNA (3.45) is a dual course and distance winner and a repeat of his July victory over Arcadian Angel could be on the cards, despite a few subsequent lacklustre efforts in better company.
THE KNOT IS TIED (2.40) was a bit disappointing when well backed at York last time but may have been feeling the effects of a very busy month, following victories at Redcar and Thirsk. Buonarroti is fancied to reverse places with Handsome Bob over this longer trip and is a live threat.
VINNIE’S WISH (3.15) is one of several Irish raiders on the card and John McConnell has the knack of returning home with Scottish cash. His colt has encountered only deep ground, including when third at Listowel. Vinnie’s Wish may well prefer this better surface.
