THERE'S not a great field here this week for the the Lyoness Open at the par 72, 7417-yard Diamond Golf Course, Alzenbrugg.
This is the seventh year in a row this tournament has been played at the beautiful Austrian course. Greens in regulation, driving accuracy, scrambling and putting, in fact all aspects of the game will be relevant here but GIR and putting more than the others.
Home hero Bernd Wiesberger is my favourite here but at a best price 15-2 I’m leaving him alone.
Ritchie Ramsay has not had the best of seasons but that could be about to change. With GIR stats of 68.7% (32nd), putts per round of 29.6 (109th) and putts per GIR 1.749 (32nd) the Scot has the game to get the win this week.
From seven starts this season South African Dean Burmester has had four top 15s. The 26-year-old looks to be one for the future but has been knocking on the door this season. He has stats of 67.4% for GIR and putts per round of 29.7 and although most of his starts have been on the African continent he is well worth a small each-way bet.
