The PGA Tour continues this week with the Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course, Southampton, Bermuda.
The 132 field with the Top 65 including ties making it into the weekend will all be competing for a share of the $6.5M prize purse with the winner collecting the Bermuda Championship Title and a winner's cheque for $1.17M.
Lucas Herbert returns to defend the title he won in 2021 when seeing off the field with one shot to spare, his winning scorecard read 269, -15.
Port Royal will be playing 6,828 yards long this week, it’s a par 71 parkland layout but here’s a warning, the weather will almost certainly play its part in proceedings this weekend with stormy conditions forecast. Check my weather update below.
You can also check out my preview on the website for the Portugal Masters over on the DP World Tour.
With the weather playing its part it’s really non-applicable to point out the key attribute or what kind of player will benefit. I’d say it’s the player who can handle these tricky weather conditions the best, that’ll be the key to success at Port Royal.
The weather is forecast to be stormy with thunderstorms on Friday and Sunday. Conditions will be humid and overcast for the most part. Breezes are expected to peak at around 16-17 mph, that’s enough for concern around here.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf & Sky Sports Main Event with live coverage starting at 6.30 pm on Thursday evening.
So let’s move on with this week's PGA betting tips to win the Bermuda Championship.
Adrian Meronk 28/1 EW 1-6 places Coral
For my first and main selection at Port Royal, I’m going to single out Adrian Meronk 28/1 EW 1-6 places Coral.
The 29-year-old Pole won the Horizon Irish Open at Mount Juliet Estate just a couple of months back and he could be the one best prepared for Port Royal, especially in this much weaker lineup than usual for a PGA Tour event.
With seven Top 10 finishes this year which include the victory mentioned above, 3rd at the Dutch Open, T3rd at the Qatar Masters, T3rd at the Catalunya Championship, T4th at the Dubai Desert Classic, T6th at the Ras Al Khaimah Classic and finally 6th at the Soudal Open.
Hey, that’s some fine performances and consistency this season for Adrian Meronk. He is ranked 10th on the DP World Tour this season for Stroke Average at 70.12 and he could be the singing in the rain this weekend when Adrian Meronk is crowned the Bermuda Champion 2022.
Seamus Power 25/1 EW 10Bet
For my next recommendation, I’m going to advise another who could be suited to the conditions, Seamus Power 25/1 EW 10Bet. The 35yrs old Irishman from Waterford won’t mind some wind and rain and could be up for the task more than most this weekend. Currently ranked inside the World's Top 50 at 48, Power will be keen to stay inside that privileged position and a victory could be imminent for the talented Irishman.
With eight Top 20 finishes, this year which includes T9th at the USPGA Championship and T12th at the US Open, both majors, Seamus Power can show his class in this weak line up .T3rd at the Sony Open in Hawaii and 5th at the WGC Dell Technologies Matchplay are other notable performances worth a mention.
Winner at last year's Barbasol Championship to win his maiden title and ranked 1st on the PGA Tour for Scrambling from the Fringe could have lots of meaning come Sunday evening when Seamus Power doubles up with another PGA W in the bag .
Ben Taylor 100/1 EW Unibet
For my next betting pick, I’m going to try for another 100/1 + winner before the year is out so I’m going to point you all in the direction of Ben Taylor 100/1 EW Unibet. The 39-year-old Englishman from Epsom represents terrific value in my book especially when you consider what he’s up against, I’d say he won’t get a better chance to win an event on the PGA Tourtjsn this week.
Ben has just regained his card after some excellent performances on the Korn Ferry Tour and will be eager to make his PGA Tour breakthrough .
He knows he can do it having won the Club Columbia Championship on the KFT amongst tough opposition. So let's all cheer on Ben Taylor to empty those bookies' satchels with another 100/1 + winner, he was 110/1 today with Bet365 who have now slashed his odds to 80/1.
Golf NAP
For my final selection, it’s the customary match bet and for this week's Nap at Port Royal, I’m going to advise Adrian Meronk again but this time to get the better off Thomas Detry over 72 holes 1/1 Nap Bet365.
