Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into League Two in England and I’m backing one of the divisions form sides to have too much firepower for their visiting opponents.
Northampton Town vs Stockport County
🏴 League Two
⏰ Saturday 24th September, 14:00
Northampton Town will look to continue their strong start to their League Two season, as they play host to Stockport County at Sixfields Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Northampton recorded their third successive league victory last time out, as they comfortably saw off bottom-side Rochdale 3-0 at home. That win now means Jon Brady’s side have won six of their opening nine league fixtures this season (W6-D2-L1), with four of those victories coming in their five home matches. No team has scored more goals in League Two so far this season than Northampton, with The Cobblers striking 19 times already this season – with eight of those coming in their last three.
Stockport saw their unbeaten run at Edgeley Park extend to four matches last time out, as they drew 0-0 with fellow strugglers Harrogate Town. It’s been a different story for Dave Challinor’s men on the road, as his newly-promoted side have lost all four of their away fixtures – losing 3-2 to previously winless Crawley Town in their last away league outing. The Hatters have let in nine goals on their travels already this season, conceding on multiple occasions in each of them.
Bet of the Day
After heartbreak in last season’s playoffs, Northampton has bounced back and made an impressive start to the season, as they currently occupy third place. They come into this having won three on the bounce and they will be confident of defeating a Stockport side who have badly struggled on their travels so far this season.
The Cobblers are the leading scorers in League Two, scoring 19 times already this season. They’ve netted on multiple occasions in 7/9 of their league fixtures this season – including in 4/5 at home – and I’m backing them to make the net bulge at least twice once more against a Hatters defence that’s conceded at least twice in each of their four league matches on the road this season.
