Football Bet of the Day: Shamrock and St Pat’s to Deliver the Goals on Monday

Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Irish Premier Division, and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Shamrock will look to maintain their position at the top of the Irish Premier Division table as they welcome sixth-placed St Patrick’s in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Stephen Bradley’s hosts are the highest-scoring side in the division, scoring 31 goals, with 16 of those coming at home. The Hoops have found the back of the net in all bar one of their opening 15 league encounters – scoring on multiple occasions in each of their previous 10 – and will be confident of troubling a St Pat’s defence that has conceded in all seven of their road trips, shipping two or more goals in six of them.

St Pat's are the second-highest scorers in the Irish top flight this season, scoring 24 goals, with half of those coming away from home. The Saints have found the back of the net in five of their previous six away matches – striking two or more goals in four of their last five – and will look to breach a Shamrock defence that has kept just two clean sheets and conceded 11 goals across their opening seven contests on home soil.

Over 2.5 Goals has banked in 6/7 (86%) of Shamrock’s Irish Premier Division fixtures in front of their supporters this term – and given the same has landed in 6/7 (86%) of St Patrick’s away league matches – I’m hoping to see a similar scoreline to the 2-2 the pair played out here in the middle of March.
