Monday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the Africa Cup of Nations. I've combined my best two selections to give us a nice looking double.

Senegal vs Zimbabwe

🇸🇳🇿🇼 Africa Cup of Nations

⏰ Monday 10th January, 13:00

Tournament favourites Senegal kick off their campaign against Zimbabwe at the Kouekong Stadium. Both sides are in Group B, alongside Guinea and Malawi.

Senegal finished runners-up in the last edition of the tournament, but will look to go one further this time round. Aliou Cissé’s side come into this in strong form, with the Lions of Teranga winning five of their six World Cup qualifiers, scoring 15 goals in the process. Despite both Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly missing the game due to Covid, Senegal will still be led by PSG’s Idrissa Gana Gueye and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.

Zimbabwe are making their third consecutive appearance in the competition and fifth overall, but The Warriors are still yet to make it out of the group stage. Norman Mapeza’s side come into this in poor form, with them failing to win any of their six World Cup qualifiers, losing four. Zimbabwe are ranked 108th in the world, some 87 places behind their upcoming opponents.

Morocco vs Ghana

🇲🇦🇬🇭

⏰ Monday 10th January, 16:00

Two of the biggest names in African football go head to head at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo as Morocco take on Ghana. Both of these sides are competing in Group C, alongside Gabon and Comoros.

Morocco come into the tournament as one of the favourites of the tournament and the Northern African side will hope to put an end to their 45 year wait without success in this competition. Valid Halilhodžić’s come into the tournament in great form, winning all six of their World Cup qualifiers, scoring 20 goals in the process. Despite no Hakem Ziyech in the Atlas Lions squad, Morocco still named plenty of stars in his squad such as PSG’s Achraf Hakimi and Sevilla striker Youssef En-Neysiri.

Ghana come into the competition looking to add to their four titles, however the Black Stars haven’t tasted success since 1982. Charles Akonnor’s side come into this winning four of their six World Cup qualifiers, but did lose 1-0 against South Africa. The Black Stars do travel to Cameroon with a few star names themselves, including both Jordan and Andre Ayew.

Bet of the Day

Senegal come into this as the bookies favourite for the tournament and they’ll look to kick off their campaign with a win over a poor Zimbabwe side. Both sides come into the tournament in contrasting form and with the Senegalese having a far stronger squad than their opponents, I’m expecting Sadio Mane and co to keep up their strong run of form and collect all three points here. Both Morocco and Ghana are two of the continents biggest names but it’s Morocco I want to get on side here. The Atlas Lions cruised through their World Cup qualifiers, winning all six of their matches, scoring 20 goals and I’m happy to back them to find the back of the net at least once here against a Ghana side that aren’t the greatest at the back.
