Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the English Championship, and there’s one side that appeals to me to collect all three points against their struggling opponents.

⚽️ Blackburn Rovers vs Reading

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Championship

⏰ Wednesday 15th March, 19:45

Blackburn will look to solidify their position inside the playoffs as they welcome away-day strugglers Reading to Ewood Park on Wednesday evening.

Blackburn saw their eight-match unbeaten run in the Championship come to an end last time out, as they were defeated 3-2 away at mid-table Stoke City. Whilst that’s now just one win from their last seven Championship matches on their travels, it’s a different story at home for Blackburn, with Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side taking 13 points from their previous 15 available at Ewood Park (W4-D1-L0). Rovers have found the back of the net in 15/17 of their Championship fixtures as hosts this season, keeping a clean sheet in 10 of those (59%).

Reading suffered their third consecutive defeat at the weekend, as they were defeated 0-1 at home by the side directly below their upcoming opponents in the table, sixth-placed Millwall. Paul Ince’s visitors have struggled all season on their travels and head to Lancashire tomorrow evening, having lost each of their previous five away Championship fixtures without scoring a single goal. In fact, The Royals have failed to score in 10/18 (56%) of their Championship fixtures on the road this season, as well as boasting the division’s leakiest away defence, shipping 35 goals.

Bet of the Day

Only joint-bottom Huddersfield (10) have registered fewer points on their travels in the Championship this season than the 11 Reading has collected (W3-D2-L13) – and I’m expecting them to return to Berkshire empty-handed once more against a Blackburn side that boasts the second-best home record in the division, collecting 37 points from a possible 51 (W12-D1-L4), with 10 of those victories coming across their previous 13.

To nudge the price up, I’m happy to throw in under five match goals, a selection that has landed in all 18 of Rovers’ Championship victories this season, as well as in 15/18 (83%) of Reading’s defeats in the league.

  • Blackburn Rovers to Win & Under 4.5 Goals
  • Pays 1/1 (Skybet)
