Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me stay in my homeland and there’s a side in League One that should have too much for their struggling opponents.
Clyde vs Peterhead
🏴 League One
⏰ Saturday 6th August, 15:00
Two sides who made very different starts to their league campaign’s last week meet in Lanarkshire on Saturday afternoon, as Clyde host Peterhead at New Douglas Park.
Clyde arguably recorded result of the weekend in Scotland last week, as they won 1-4 in Dumfries against recently relegated and one of the promotion contenders Queen of the South. Danny Lennon’s side did fail to get out of their League Cup group, losing 3/4 of their matches, including a 5-0 drubbing at Premiership side Hibernian. However, The Bully Wee did win their last fixture at home in the group, defeating Championship side Greenock Morton 2-0.
Peterhead conceding twice in the space of six first-half minutes, as they began their league campaign with a 0-2 defeat at home to Airdrieonians. Jim Mclnally (the longest serving manager in Scotland) saw his side have an absolutely miserable League Cup campaign, losing all four matches, including defeats against League Two sides Dumbarton and Stirling Albion. The Blue Toon have conceded a total of 15 goals in their five competitive matches this season and are still yet to score a single goal.
Bet of the Day
It’s been an absolutely miserable start to the season for Peterhead and I don’t see their fortunes changing in Lanarkshire on Saturday afternoon. Jim Mclnally’s side have lost all five of their competitive fixtures this season, including two defeats in the League Cup against sides in the division below. Clyde, on the other hand, secured an eye-catching 1-4 win away to candidates for promotion Queen of the South last week, and should be too strong for a Peterhead side not only struggling for players, but who have conceded 15 goals in their opening five competitive matches and who are yet to score a single goal.
