A couple of hours on from Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day in Minnesota, Thursday’s column sees me, once again, focus on the MLS, and I’ve highlighted another goals-based selection involving one of the most in-form sides.

Resurgent LA Galaxy welcome poor-travelling Austin FC to Dignity Health Sports Park in the early hours of Thursday morning in a fixture that I’m keen to back the reigning MLS Cup champions to score at least twice.
The Galaxy had made an awful start to the campaign, failing to win any of their opening 16 MLS matches this campaign (W0-D4-L12), leaving them at the foot of the Western Conference table.
However, Greg Vanney’s men have improved in recent weeks, losing just one of their past six games (W3-D2-L1), including three successive wins at home, the latest of which came against DC United at the weekend.
Austin made a solid start to their MLS campaign, winning five of their opening nine fixtures (W5-D1-L3), including a 1-0 win at home to the Galaxy in the middle of April.
However, since then, Los Verdes have won just two of their next 12 in MLS (W2-D5-L5), with their away form in particular troubling them, picking up just four points from their last seven road trips (W1-D1-L5).

Greg Vanney’s hosts have scored 24 goals across their opening 22 MLS contests this campaign, with 13 (54%) of them coming on home soil.
The Galaxy have failed to score in just one of their past eight MLS encounters in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in five of their previous six (2-4, 2-2, 0-1, 2-0, 3-0 & 2-1) – and I’m backing them to be too strong for an Austin side that has lost five of their past seven on the road, shipping multiple goals in each of those defeats.
What’s more, the Galaxy have won all four previous meetings with Austin FC at Dignity Health Sports Park – scoring on multiple occasions in each victory (2-0, 4-1, 2-0 & 2-1 – and I’m backing that trend to continue on Thursday.
