Football Bet of the Day: Entertaining Encounter Expected at the AMEX

Following on from Wednesday’s winner in West London, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me stay in the English Premier League, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals and cards.

Two of the Premier League’s most entertaining sides this season meet at the AMEX this evening as 9th-placed Brighton play host to 5th-placed Spurs in a fixture that appeals to me for goals and cards.

Roberto De Zerbi’s hosts have scored 34 goals across their opening 18 Premier League encounters this campaign, with 18 (53%) of them coming on home soil. The Seagulls have found the back of the net in all bar one of their league outings this term – scoring two or more in nine (50%) of them – and will look to trouble a Spurs defence that has recorded just five shutouts in the league this season, with four (80%) of them coming against teams positioned in 12th and below.

Ange Postecoglou’s visitors have scored 37 goals across their opening 18 Premier League fixtures this term, with 20 (54%) of them coming on their travels. Spurs have made the net bulge in all 18 (100%) of their league contests this season – striking on multiple occasions in 13 (72%) of them – and will be confident of continuing their goal-scoring streak against a Brighton backline yet to register a clean sheet in the Premier League this season, conceding 31 goals.

Brighton’s opening 18 Premier League fixtures this season are averaging a league-high 3.61 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 17 (94%) of them, with Over 2.5 Goals also copping in 12 (67%) of them – and given Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals has landed in 13/18 (72%) of Tottenham’s Premier League contests – I’m more than happy to have a punt on there to be three or more goals, with both of these attack-minded sides finding the target.
