Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the MLS card and there’s one match in particular that stands out to me for goals.
Seattle Sounders vs LAFC
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Saturday 18th June, 20:00
LAFC will look to extend their four point lead at the top of the Western Conference, as they travel to Lumen Field to take on Seattle Sounders who are currently positioned in the final playoff spot in the Western Conference table.
Seattle Sounders made it four wins from their last five matches in the MLS, as they thumped the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-0 at home. In fact, Brian Schmetzer’s side have also won four of their last five fixtures in front of their own supporters, including each of their last three. The Sounders have found the back of the net 19 times so far this season, with 12 of them coming in their last five matches on their home turf. Seattle have only registered two clean sheets from their opening 13 MLS fixtures, conceding a total of 19 goals.
LAFC come into this having won back-to-back matches, firstly winning 0-2 away to the Columbus Crew before defeating SJ Earthquakes 3-2. Only Nashville (14) have collected more points on their travels in the Western Conference than LAFC, with Steve Cherundolo’s having taken 12 points from a possible 18. The Los Angeles based side have only failed to score once this season and are the highest-scorers in the MLS, finding the back of the net on 29 occasions. LAFC have kept just four clean sheets from their opening 14 league matches, with just two of those coming in their last 11.
Bet of the Day
After winning just two of their opening eight MLS fixtures, Seattle Sounders come into this winning four of their last five and I’m expecting an entertaining encounter when they host Western Conference leaders LAFC on Saturday night. Brian Schmetzer’s hosts have struck 12 goals in their last five matches at home and they should add to that tally against an LAFC side who’ve kept just two clean sheets in their last 11 matches. However, Steve Cherundolo’s visitors have failed to score just once this season and are the top-scorers in the whole of the MLS and I can’t see them failing to net at least once against a Sounders defence that’s kept just two clean sheets all season. Given both of these sides are filled with attacking quality and that they struggle for clean sheets, I reckon we’ll see at least three strikes with both sides contributing in what should be a fun watch at Lumen Field.
