THERE was a good article in the Daily Record the other day about how much you'd be due backing Leicester and Aberdeen to win their respective titles at the start of the season.
For a £10 double at Ladbrokes the answer was £3.4million – and of course no one is on. Leicester were as big as 10,000-1 and Aberdeen 33-1. The double now pays 50-1.
In similar fashion Jamie Vardy was a 500-1 no-hoper for the Golden Boot but after 18 strikes in a remarkable season he heads to the Etihad today 2-1 favourite in front of 11-4 Sergio Aguero and 4-1 pair Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku.
Vardy is 4-1 to outscore Aguero today with Leicester now priced at 9-2 at bet365 to win the Premier League.
I haven't quite bought into the Leicester fairytale and still can't believe they could lift the title. But the Premier League table doesn't lie and as weeks go on the possibility of a fantasy football moment moves closer to reality.
I fancied them in midweek against Liverpool and Claudio Ranieri's men didn't disappoint but the biggest test comes at lunchtime today and there's every chance they'll pass it.
If the Foxes pick up the points at the Etihad I'll regard them as serious contenders but their No.1 target should be clinching a top-four place and that looks likely at the expense of the likes of Man United and Liverpool.
Man City are 8-13 with Betfred to win today but against top-eight sides have taken just three points (home to Southampton) just once this season and that's a stunning stat.
Leicester are unbeaten in the 11 of their 12 away matches and with Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in fabulous form they can avoid defeat at 6-4 with bet365
An away win pays 5-1 at McBookie and William Hill while a draw is 17-5 with the Scots firm.
It could be about Aguero v Vardy. Aguero is 3-1 to net first with England striker Vardy 15-2 at betfair to add to the stunning volley he netted against Liverpool. It's a good price so consider Vardy to net at any time at 9-4 with Betfred.
Best bets today could be third-place Spurs who are 1-2 at McBookie and bet365 at home to Watford. They blew away Norwich and are firmly in the title mix. Harry Kane needs to stay fit though and he's 16-5 at McBookie to score first.
Soythampton should beat West Ham in the teatime game and are 3-4 with McBookie while Fraser Forster is 11-10 at boylesports to keep a clean sheet – he has four in row after returning from injury.
In the Championship the best bets could be Burnley at home to Hull in a top-of-the-table clash. Burnley were superb in their last home game as they destroyed Derby 4-1 and are 19-10 with McBookie and Betfred.
Star striker Andre Gray has netted six in six league games and is 21-10 with McBookie to score again.
I also like a Charlton side beginning to improve under Jose Riga and who have strengthened by signing striker Yaya Sanogo on loan from Arsenal and bringing in French defender Rod Fanni. They're worth a look at 12-5 with bet365 and Betfred.
In League One I like Southend at home to Colchester at 13-10 with McBookie and in League Two take on-form Northampton at home to Jackie McNamara's York.
Bets to Consider
Leicester not to lose
Vardy to score
Kane to score first
Southampton clean sheet
Burnley
Gray to score
