IT was an early start this morning with Chelsea and as expected they beat Monterrey in the World Club Championship with Fernando Torres scoring to bring up my forecast.
There are a few games to look at tonight and while I admitted today I knew more about Monterey cheese than Monterrey the football team I also know more about the Battle of Hastings than Hastings the football club.
However, from those who follow English non-league football more than me the suggestion is that Hastings face a tough fight in their FA Cup replay at home to a Harrogate side a league above them in the pyramid system.
Harrogate were expected to win the initial tie but in the league have won twice the number of games away from home than on their own ground so that's a good pointer.
The visitors are priced up at a biggest 7-5 with Ladbrokes and I'm willing to take it – then go on and vent abuse at the tipster who put it up if Harrogate don't win. Only joking – I'd never do that.
There are several games in Europe and best bets could be Levante at home to Real Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey. Levante are strong at home and this season only Barcelona, Real and Atletico Madrid have left with anything.
Of course the tempo in cup games is slower but Levante should beat a Zaragoza side who haven't won in four. They are 19-20 with BetVictor.
Real Betis should win the other tie at Las Palmas but with it being the first leg are unlikely to bust a gut. They are a best 13-8 at William Hill but I'm leaving it alone.
In Coppa Italia there is one game with AC Milan just 1-4 at Paddy Power to beat Serie B Reggina in the San Siro.
Milan have name a full squad for the tie and if they go ahead and play their strongest line-up they should win well. Top scorer Stephen El Shaaraway is 3-1 with bet365 to score first and I'll be on him if he starts.
I've had my fingers burned with handicap tips on Arsenal and Celtic but I'm willing to risk Milan at 4-7 with Paddy Power minus one against a side with just one win in five in Serie B.

Personally, I’d wait until the 65th – 70th min and trade then, the odds will have tailed off to near evens…their seems to be a slight trend for tight first legs in the Copa del Rey. Certainly Betis have lost their last two historic first legs 1-0. Las Palmas have only conceded one goal in their last 5 home games…I think you’ll be pushed for a goal to be honest in this game, I was considering over 0.5 – but I’m leaving it!

Robbie, if you must have a crack at the over 0.5 I’d go in during the last 10 mins, if you look at Betis’s goal scoring/conceding times, there is a definite trend for late action. This is in the league though – can’t really use it for cup b-teams. The overall fact that Las Palmas haven’t conceded in 5 league home games kills the bet for me. Soccerstats.com is great for checking this all out, so if you don’t use it already – I highly advise using it, particularly the “under/over” charts for each league!
