IT'S been a hectic week so I didn't get a chance to post this earlier. I've picked my Super Single for tomorrow's Daily Record and it will be interesting to see if anyone says something to put me off.
As always I don't promise the same pick in the paper that's on the site – although they'll never be at odds with each other.
One side who feature on the list are Brentford and I wonder how they'll react to the news gaffer Mark Warburton is quitting at the end of the season.
Brentford are enjoying the campaign of their lives but club owner Matthew Benham wants more stats to be used when signing players – while Warburton would prefer to use traditional scouting methods.
So the boss is off as are No.2 David Weir and sporting director Frank McParland – and who knows how the players will react.
Rumours about Warburton's departure have circulated for weeks and that may have contributed to three defeats in four games. Confirmation he's going is likely to create a difficult atmosphere in the dressing room and ground and I can see title-chasing Bournemouth taking advantage today.
Eddie Howe's men have suffered a slight blip with two home draws but remain nicely placed to challenge for automatic promotion.
Teams such as Ipswich, Watford and Norwich are bunching up behind the big three and Ipswich can maintain their challenge by beating Reading at home. They also make the list and are just over evens.
Watford-Norwich could be the game of the day and instead of picking a winner I'm putting over 3.5 goals on the list at 9-4 with BetVictor.
Here is the full shortlist I picked yesterday just looking at stats but not team news. Let's have some comments before I post the top tips after midnight.
Super Single shortlist
Sunderland v WEST BROM
Brentford v BOURNEMOUTH
IPSWICH v Reading
Watford v Norwich over 3.5 goals
Colchester v BRISTOL CITY
Port Vale v DONCASTER
Dag & Red v BURTON
QoS not to lose v Hearts
Stenhousemuir v AIRDRIE
QUEEN'S PARK v Berwick
Blackburn -1 against Blackpool that’s my bet this weekend look forward to your S’S tomorrow
Gillingham draw no bet away to Yeovil @ 2.5 (3/2) on Will Hill. Looking at form that’s a banker.
Shrewsbury away to tranmere
Jolo iv been saying all week blackburn-1 is the bet of the weekend 13/10) out of Mr f’s list I would chose Burton.
Hi mr. F just wandered why you don’t do the bet365 super single competition any more?
Slimyouth, could be back this weekend – it’s admin who put it up.
Ok, thanks mate.
Shrewsbury away to Tranmere 11/10
Think there a great bet Mav
Not sure about West Brom. I think Bristol City and Burton are a good shout though.
Bristol City for me GL
Goin for an Acca with top form gillingham, a team that never let’s me down burton, new manager team on the up west brom n plenty of goals Bolton vs forest
Gillingham
Burton
West brom
Bolton vs forest BTTS
Fourfold get on it
Sad to say as a Bees fan but the Bournemouth shout looks a good one. Our form has been affected by the news about the manager and our results against the top teams haven’t been great anyway. I’d be surprised if we get anything out of the game
Rob P, seems a crazy situation with Warburton. You’d think the job he’s doing the owner wouldn’t interfere.
Fancy Forfar bbts S husband anytime scorer against old team
Mr f what’s the thinking on q of south against hearts.
I like hearts strongly here I don’t think q of south have enough to contain the jambos
jazza, Queens playing well and have a cracking strikeforce. Plastic pitch so tough one for Hearts – I think they’d be happy with the draw.
Bristol city, surprised not to see man utd or arsenal on the shortlist
Liamaldinho, Arsenal too short and can’t trust Man Utd away.
Hop over the channel and at 1/1 on skybet caen to beat lens ,Caen won 4 out of the last 5 the only blip was when they only managed to draw away at psg ,lens come into the game on a bad run ,good stats for Caen ,
Hibs-2. Now17-10. Got to in with a chance since they took 6 of dumbarton away from home. Ggtth.
I like West Brom Mr F. To beat a West Ham 4-0 is is some results, people will say it was the FA Cup but bar Andy Carroll they were full strength. If QPR can win away then Pulis will have them fired up enough to win this one. One of the most underrated managers in football in my opinion.
Ipswich look ever so tempting at a best 11/10 on odds checker. Wigan beat Reading earlier in the week and lost to Charlton tonight so by that form Ipswich should ease it this Saturday. Also RFO has Ipswich along the lines of 6w 1d 1l in the last 8 home games. Other teams I’m considering are
Oldham win
Gillingham win
Arsenal vs Palace over 2.5. Dagenham vs Burton both teams to score
I know it’s risky having an anytime goalscorer as a SS Mr F but Thomas Ince is a big price @ 21/10 @ BV
Jordan, he’ll probably score as could Bent but as you say too risky.
As Gillingham is my local team let me just advise caution when calling them a banker!
We are historically bad travellers too.
I don’t follow them too closely mind, so feel free to disregard this Advisory.
Mr fix it how do find the tips you put in the daily record? Was on the website there can’t find it. Is there a quick google search ?
Ian, Friday’s column should be there under columnists – Saturday’s won’t be up yet.
Thanks.
Burnley to score 1 or more team goals at evens with PP. Surely a chance with chelsea having played away in Europe mid-week?
I’m not so sure Ben. If Everton couldn’t I’d be wary of Burnley doing it.
See your point jordan but u would of seen how burnley are willing to attack at old trafford, plus they scored two at city. Fair enough chelsea have arguably a better defence but with burnley having a gung ho approach and with chelsea having played away mid week i think evens is an unbelievable price for a team in the prem to score a goal. Heres hoping!
Ben, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge are like chalk and cheese this season, we might be third but we haven’t done it with conviction. Chelsea a lot better side than us and they’ll thump us when we go there.
Havent looked at odds yet but i like the look of Arsenal -1
West brom win with both teams to score.
QPR (possibly double chance)
And maybe pushing it with United to win at swansea with both teams scoring.
Evening Mr F, just finalising my bets for tomorrow, and for me O2.5g in the Watford – Norwich game for me looks my best bet 5/6 Boyles. I know it is under evens so may not qualify for the super single, but will be my main bet tomorrow. Watford last six games have seen 27 goals scored while Norwich last six games have seen 19 goals scored, 11 scored in their last 3 games. I imagine this game will be on most punters Btts accumulators tomorrow.
I don’t know enough about Scottish football, so off your list Ipswich at 11/10 William Hill would be my pick, They only lost at home to Derby this season, and Reading lost to Leeds and Wigan recently and Wigan just got done 0-3 tonight at home to Charlton.
thechief, Watford-Norwich is in the btts treble and Ipswich are the Super Single.
Mr F, just seen that, lets hope we are both right. The championship has been a minefield recently.
Arsenal -1
West Bromwich win & btts
Man utd win & btts
@89.99/1 on bet365
Gotta be worth a quid!
Jordan this isnt a united v chelsea debate. Im only saying that on any given day any premiership team can score atleast one goal against another. Even chelsea. The bookies are rarely wrong and therefore have priced it accordingly. For those that follow live betting the price will likely jump to 3-4/1 if burnley have not scored by half time
