THE Memorial Invitational at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Muirfield Village, Ohio, has attracted great names including Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler and the return of Tiger Woods.
Brooks Koepka looks to be back to some kind of form with four sub-70 rounds last week and could do well here. His GIR stats were a brilliant 80% and strokes gained putting 1.695 which could come in handy on this course.
He’s number one in eagles and second in approaches from 175-200 yards. Well worth a small bet.
Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama must have a great chance. He was the first man to win The Memorial on his first appearance and with driving accuracy at 65%, GIR at 70.41 he’s got the attributes to win again. Long and straight and good around the green he could get the victory he is due this season.
But for a quadruple eight in the final round last week big Dustin Johnson could have been challenging at the end of the AT&T. With a 67 68 and 62 he was leading when had his blowout but still held it together till the end. I’m not giving up on the big man and hope this will be the precursor to a good US Open for him.
Over at the PGA National Sweden GC in Malmo I am backing young Emiliano Grillo to lift the Nordea Masters. He hasn’t been that great in the last two tournaments but this course might suit the big-hitting Argentinian. With driving accuracy of 67.5%, GIR 71.8% and GIR putts per round of 22.6I I fancy him for a place here.
Thongchai Jaidee is back to defend his win last year and is good form on his return to the European Tour. He managed a great 65 to tie with Stephen Gallacher and Victor Dubuisson then birdied the first extra hole to win the tournament. He finished T2 for the BMW PGA Tournament at Wentworth then followed that up with a T10 at the cold and windy Royal County Down.

really thought Dustin Johnson was going to do it last week tied for top through final round with jimmy walker then had that disaster hole which ruled him out of contention the biggest surprise for me was that Jimmy Walker didnt hold on and I can honestly say I hadnt heard of Stephen Bodwitch who eventually won quite easily but i bet you could have got odds around 200/1- 300/1 on him before the start.
Onto this week and its a tough course with lightening greens predicted so approach shots will be key.
Three big price picks this week taking all e/w
Bill Haas 33/1 @ paddy power top 6 e/w
Been in good touch this year, 1 win, 4th at TPC Sawgrass, 12th in Masters so plays the tough courses well proven with an 8th and 4th place finish here recently
Kevin Na 40/1 EW top 6 at paddy power
If am going to get some place money back then this guy could be my best bet as he been in very consistent form of late with 5 top 10 finishes in his last 8 starts and again someone who has played this course well thanks to his runner up performance here last year
Chris Kirk 35/1 at Bet Fred EW top 5
Another consistent performer this year was a winner 2 weeks ago took last week off so hopefully will be fresh and raring t ogo again, also played well here last year finishing 4th here

Matsuyama won this last yr, surely the 13/2 @StanJames is worth taking for a ROW winner. You’ll have any of Matsuyama, Jason Day, Schwartzel plus the rest. Not on this tho.
Can remember raal mentioning Scott Brown a while back, only stuck ££ on him for his name obviously but he was 13th last yr so a couple quid on top 20 finish for me at 11/2 @Bet365.
Alves, I’ve already tipped Matsuyama and will be on him ew but your 13-2 looks OK but there are plenty of Americans and a few European who could win it.
S. Bowditch last week played amazing golf and I can’t see why he can’t produce that high standard again. He is a massive 80/1 10 ew top 6 get on
Pg tips, good luck with Bowditch. All I’d say is this week’s field is much stronger and normally when a player wins he struggles to follow it up the next week which is why you have so few back-to-back winners.
Kevin KISNER 45/1
Billy horshel – 40/1
Paul can mind when you got back from US Open we spoke about him, this is the 1st time I’ve bn on him and he’s now the fav to win at 7/2, always a good start. Top 20 in the bag I think and split ma tenner so top 20 would be tiny profit, only the 1.76 on outright due to this and 3 on top ROW. Decent start :)
Alves, it was The Masters but never mind. I was hugely impressed by him on the range and as defending champ really fancied him this week. Huge favourite now so an easy lay for anyone interested.
Aye that’s the one, but I think I’ll leave ma £1.76 running haha top ROW looking good too, 5 shots in front of nearest player but long way too go
Another successful week..Aldridge 80s in web..and Noren to win 20s…
Hope you guys where on my selections too..
