Brighton and Hove Albion vs Newcastle United

, KO: 15:00 , Amex Stadium
Newcastle United

Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United both hit form before the international break so they will be looking to build more momentum as they resume their Premier League campaigns with a clash on the south coast.

The Seagulls are unbeaten in four games while Newcastle headed into the break with back-to-back victories over Union Saint-Gilloise and Nottingham Forest.

They both sit on nine points after seven games and will now be out to climb the Premier League table and get in the thick of the fight for European places.

The Magpies have a big Champions League game with Benfica looming but Eddie Howe should field a strong side for this one as he bids to spark their domestic campaign to life.

Fabian Hurzeler's men don't have European football to distract them but they will be targeting continental football for next term.

Making the Amex Stadium a fortress will be key to those hopes and they've yet to lose in three games at home this season.

How the bookies view it: Brighton by a nose

With these teams so close together in the table, it's no surprise to see the bookies sitting on the fence. BoyleSports make Brighton slight favourites at 6/4, with Newcastle 7/4 and the draw paying 23/20.

Recent head to head: Soaring Seagulls

Brighton have held the upper hand in this fixture of late, going five games without defeat. The Seagulls won two of the three meetings last term, including a a 2-1 extra-time triumph at St James' Park in the FA Cup.

Players to watch: Woltemade on a roll

Nick Woltemade has made a superb start to his Newcastle career, scoring in four of his seven appearances. He also netted for Germany on Monday night and is 15/8 at BoyleSports for another goal here.

Players often shine against their old clubs and Yankuba Minteh could hurt Newcastle. The Brighton forward also netted on international duty for Gambia and is 10/3 for anytime scorer.

Probable line-ups

Both teams had players on international duty in all corners of the globe so it will be interesting to see if they are all fresh enough to start.

New signing Jacob Ramsey should be fit enough to join Newcastle's squad but is likely to start on the bench.

Brighton and Hove Albion: Verbruggen, De Cuyper, Dunk, Van Hecke, Gomez, Gruda, Baleba, Ayari, Rutter, Wieffer, Welbeck.

Newcastle United: Pope, Trippier, Burn, Schar, Botman, Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton, Elanga, Gordon, Woltemade.

Anything else catch the eye?

The first games back after international breaks can often be a bit disappointing, particularly with teams who have plenty of players from South America and Asia. So I've a feeling this one won't be a thriler and under 2.5 goals looks worth a punt at 20/21 with BoyleSports.

There wasn't much between these sides last term and the last four meetings have either ended level or seen a one-goal winning margin.

I fancy the half-time draw in this one at 11/10 with BoyleSports while McBookie price a one-goal winning margin at 5/4.
