HUNTER MAHAN had me biting my nails last week with his last-hole antics but thankfully he held on and we had a winner for the fifth week in a row – and a 50-1 shot at that. Can I make it six Here’s hoping.

This week it's the Deutsche Bank at TPC Boston. It's not a difficult course and last year’s scoring average of 69.207 on a par 71 was a tournament record. Defending champion Henrik Stenson hit 22-under 262, so expect low numbers from the off.

I stated last week I thought Rory McIlroy wouldn’t win after his a tournament off celebrating his US PGA victory. This week there’s a good chance he will.

He had a bad start at The Barclays but hit back with a 65. We all know how good he is and it wouldn’t surprise me if he won this week. Unfortunately he’s going to be a short price but it could be worth it.

Matt Kuchar seems to be back in the groove with two top-fives and a T12 in his last three tournaments. He is 22nd in driving accuracy (67.67%), eighth in strokes gained putting and 14th in birdie average.

I’ve backed the Kooch and few times this season and feel sometimes he’s knocking on the door but can’t be bothered to open it. Hopefully the Fedex No.4 can burst through the door this time.

In his last seven tournaments Adam Scott has had five top-10 finishes and two T15s. At The Barclays apart from a 75 in the third round he played solidly.

In GIR he’s nearly 68%, 15th in strokes gained putting, third in birdie average and scoring average so his stats are well up there. Scott is another, like Kuchar, who seems so laidback he’ll fall over but he’ll be up there at the end.

It’s time for Jordan Spieth to get a top finish. Since his superb start to the season and a T2 in The Masters he’s had one top-10 finish since the Players Championship in May.

He’s playing steady golf but nothing spectacular and is still ninth in the Fedex. He was a T4 here last year with a career low 62 so if he can sharpen his game a bit he might just do the business.

Finally, one of the form men at the moment is Jim Furyk. Four top-10 finishes out of six with the other two inside the top 15. Over the past 20 rounds all but three are under 71, in fact he has been over par just once and that was a one-over 71.

He’s not great at holding a lead on the last day so as long as he’s not leading after three rounds he could win this.

Like the look of Scott and Kuchar this week. Will also throw in Jason Day at 16/1.

In the Italian, fancy E Molinari at 22/1. Aguilar might also be worth a small wager at 50/1.

SWJL, I haven’t picked my US players although tough to go against Ace. In Italy I’m taking Mannassero and Grillo each-way – course should suit both.
