Following Tuesday’s surprise lack of goals at Leverkusen, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the French top flight, and I’ve highlighted a goals and cards-based selection.

Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Ligue 1 table meet at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy tomorrow evening as fifth-placed Lille entertain fourth-placed Nice in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Bruno Genesio’s hosts have scored 26 goals across their opening 17 Ligue 1 contests this term, with 14 (54%) of those coming on home soil.
Les Dogues have found the back of the net in each of their opening eight Ligue 1 encounters at home – notching on multiple occasions in four (50%) of them – and will look to continue their goal-scoring record at home against a Nice defence that has kept just three clean sheets in Ligue 1 this season, shipping multiple goals in five of their last seven.
Franck Haise’s visitors are the third-highest scorers in the French top flight, slamming in 35 goals across their opening 17 matches, with 14 (40%) of those coming on their travels.
Les Aiglons have failed to score just twice in Ligue 1 this campaign – notching on multiple occasions in six of their previous seven – and will look to continue their excellent form in front of goal against a Lille backline that has kept just one clean sheet across their past seven Ligue 1 encounters in front of their supporters.

Nice’s opening 17 Ligue 1 fixtures this season have averaged an eye-catching 3.41 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score landing in a joint league-high 13 (76%) of them – including in 10 of their past 11 – whilst six of Lille’s previous seven Ligue 1 contests in front of their supporters have produced goals at both ends.
What’s more, 13 of the past 18 meetings between the pair have seen both teams oblige – including a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture in November – and I’m hoping we see a similarly entertaining encounter in Northern France on Friday evening.
To nudge the price up, I’m happy to add in both teams to pick up a card. This selection has landed in all 17 (100%) of Lille’s Ligue 1 outings this season and in 13 of Nice’s previous 16.
