I successfully backed Martin Odegaard to be fouled during Arsenal’s away game at West Ham last weekend and I’m siding with the same selection when they meet Manchester United this midweek. Odegaard’s return from injury has coincided with Arsenal’s upturn in form. The Gunners captain has registered a goal involvement in each of his three Premier League appearances since coming back into the side.
Odegaard has also been fouled in each of those three respective outings, meaning he has earned his side a free-kick in all six of his Premier League appearances this season so far. Furthermore, the Norwegian ace was also on the receiving end of a foul during Arsenal’s 5-1 smashing of Sporting Lisbon last midweek.
In what promises to be a fiercely contested midfield battleground, there is plenty of scope for Odegaard to draw another foul from Arsenal's latest opponents on Wednesday night.
Manuel Ugarte To Commit 2+ Fouls
Manuel Ugarte is likely to be handed the tricky task of trying to contain the aforementioned Odegaard on Wednesday night. With that in mind, I’m going to round off the Bet Builder double by backing the Manchester United midfielder to commit two or more fouls during this contest.
Since arriving at Old Trafford earlier this year, Ugarte has regularly fallen foul of match officials. He has given away a combined total of 13 free-kicks across his opening eight Premier League appearances for United.
Dig a little deeper, and you will see that the all-action Uruguayan has committed two or more fouls in each of the three top-flight games that he has started this term. It’s also worth noting that Ugarte has averaged two fouls per-game across his four appearances for the Red Devils in this season’s Europa League to date.
Given that Arsenal will represent the highest calibre of opposition that Ugarte has come up against since joining Man United, another couple of misdemeanours from him looks well within range.
