Two clubs separated only by three points in the Scottish Premiership table meet at Dens Park on Wednesday evening as seventh-placed Dundee plays host to fifth-placed Motherwell in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Tony Docherty’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in the Premiership, slamming in 23 goals across their opening 14 matches, with 16 (70%) of them coming on home soil.
The Dark Blues have only failed to score at Dingwall against Ross County and at Celtic Park against champions Celtic in the league this season – notching on multiple occasions in 5/7 (71%) of their home encounters – and will be confident of breaching a Well backline that is without a clean sheet since the opening day of the season, shipping 19 goals.
Stuart Kettlewell’s hosts have scored 16 goals across their opening 13 Scottish Premiership matches this term, with nine (56%) of them coming across their six road trips.
The Steelmen have made the net bulge in each of their six league outings on the road – notching on multiple occasions in three of their past five – and will be confident of breaching a Dundee defence that has registered a solitary clean sheet in the league this season, shipping multiple goals in 10/14 (71%) of them.

Dundee’s opening 14 contests in the Scottish Premiership this season have averaged a league-high 3.50 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 10 (71%) of them.
Those numbers rise even further when playing at home, with their seven Premiership fixtures at Dens Park averaging a staggering 4.14 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in all seven – and given the same had landed in 11 of Motherwell’s past 12 league outings – I’m more than happy to back three or more goals in this one on Wednesday.
