Amorim Man Utd debut

With Ruben Amorim's Manchester United debut fast approaching, there is an air of expectation around his arrival. The Portuguese manager enters the fray with a proven track record at Sporting Lisbon, having implemented direct attacking football and deployed a high tempo 3-4-3 formation. His first game comes against a leaky Ipswich defence, but one that secured its first win of the season against Tottenham last time out.

Three bet builder selections that provide good value for United' trip to Portman Road have been highlighted below. Expect there to be a lot of goals in this fixture, as the Red Devils look to secure their first victory at the start of a new era for the club.

Popular Bet Builder choices

Over 1.5 First Half Goals, Both teams to Score Man Utd to Win or Draw – 11/4

Our first value selection is based on Ipswich's home record. The Tractor Boys have failed to keep a single clean sheet at home this season, and have conceded four first-half goals at Portman Road in their five fixtures. Having bagged six across their last three games, though, this looks set to be a very high-scoring match.

With no wins on home soil either, putting money on Man United to take at least a point on their travels seems a sensible choice. New manager bounce is something that has become widely recognised in recent years, and it could have a substantial impact on the result here too.

Liam Delap to score anytime, Ipswich to win and BTTS – 21/2

If Ipswich are to get their maiden home win, it will surely come with a trademark Liam Delap goal. Six strikes from his first 10 Premier League starts, the Englishman has been electric since signing for Manchester City for £20 million.

However, the Tractor Boys' defensive record still betrays them. If they are to overcome Amorim in his first game in charge, it is highly likely that it will not come with a clean sheet. If punters do wish to back an Ipswich win, both teams to score would be a smart addition to their bet builder.

Result – Man United win (90 mins) And Total goals – Over 1.5 (90 mins) – 17/20

The final suggestion is favourable for United supporters. A win with more than 1 match goals seems a very likely occurrence for Amorim's debut. Only one of Ipswich's 11 Premier League fixtures has included less than two goals, and Manchester United have managed five goals on their travels so far. With Amorim set to continue his utilisation of an attacking 3-4-3, it would seem plausible that these trends will continue.

Something to consider, however, is that United have only won one away game this season, a 3-0 victory over rock-bottom side Southampton, so they have been far from impressive on the road. However, this should make Amorim more determined than ever to rectify his predecessor's mistakes and start his tenure off with a resounding victory.
