St Pauli will welcome Bayern Munich to the Millerntor Stadion on Saturday, 9 November for a clash that will have serious repercussions for both ends of the Bundesliga table.
The hosts are currently only outside of the relegation zone courtesy of their goal difference so a heavy defeat to the league leaders here could see them drop into the bottom three.
Bayern, meanwhile, have opened up a three-point lead at the top of the table and will be looking to ensure they don't drop any silly points before the international break.
How the bookies view it: The visitors start as massive favourites
Bayern Munich start most matches in the Bundesliga as odds-on favourites and they have been priced very short once again here. Betfred have priced a win for Bayern Munich at 2/9 while a victory for St Pauli has been priced as long as 10/1. The draw, which would be a brilliant results for the hosts, has been priced at 11/2.
Recent head-to-head: A first meeting in 13 years
This will be the first time since 2011 that St Pauli have faced Bayern Munich which adds a little extra spice to the fixture. Bayern will be hoping for a similar result to the one they got on their last visit to St Pauli when they ran out as 8-1 winners. St Pauli's last win over Bayern Munich came back in 2002 when they defeated Germany's biggest club 2-1.
Players to watch: Kane to feast once again?
Harry Kane is enjoying another brilliant season in front of goal but there is no escaping the fact that the England captain does make the most of matches against teams towards the bottom of the table.
Kane has 11 goals in nine Bundesliga appearances this season and five of those came against teams currently inside the relegation zone. That spells danger for St Pauli as the 31-year-old goes hunting for his fourth hat-trick of the campaign.
What should encourage St Pauli is their defensive record this season. They have conceded 11 goals in the league which is less than any other team in the bottom half of the table. A key reason for that record is Nikola Vasilj who has been a revelation in between the sticks. Can the Bosnian keep Kane and co at bay on Saturday?
Predicted line-ups
St Pauli are missing eight players for this one as their injury woes continue to derail their season. Bayern Munich's injury problems aren't nearly as severe but they will have to play without Sacha Boey, Josip Stanisic and Hiroki Ito. Alexaksanar Pavlovic will face a later fitness test.
St Pauli: Vasilj – Wahl, Smith, Mets – Saliakas, Boukhalfa, Irvine, Ritzka – Afolayan, Guilavogui, Eggestein
Bayern Munich: Neuer – Guerreiro, Upamecano, Min-Jae, Davies – Palhinha, Kimmich – Olise, Musiala, Coman – Kane
Anything else catch the eye?
St Pauli are yet to score a goal at home this season which is a damning stat for a team whose goal is to stay in the division this year. The Hamburg-based club are unlikely to improve on that record against the second-best defence in the league. St Pauli to score under 0.5 goals has been priced at 11/10 by Betfred.
