Atletico Madrid are set to face Las Palmas on Sunday, 3 November with the hosts looking to bounce back following their first league defeat of the season last weekend.
Atleti are already ten points behind Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table and more dropped points here would see their title hopes end in November.
Las Palmas, meanwhile, currently find themselves in the bottom three. A win on Sunday would almost certainly see them move outside of the relegation zone which should be more than enough motivation.
How the bookies view it: Atleti start as heavy favourites
Atletico Madrid are huge favourites for this one which may come as a surprise to some people given that they have won just five of their eleven league matches this season. Betfred have priced a home win as short as 1/4 while a victory for Las Palmas has been priced at 11/1. The draw, which would be a terrible result for the hosts, has been priced at 5/1.
Recent head-to-head: Recent success for both teams
Las Palmas have displayed on a couple of occasions in recent years that they are capable of beating Atletico Madrid which should inspire them ahead of kick-off on Saturday. They have won two of the last six meetings between the two sides and won at the Metropolitano back in 2017.
On the other side of the coin, Atletico Madrid will like their chances after beating Las Palmas in four of their last five matches against them.
Players to watch: A disjointed attack to come to life against a leaky defence?
Perhaps for the first time in his tenure as Atletico Madrid manager, pressure is starting to build on Diego Simeone after a sloppy start to the season. A big area for concern for Atletico and their fans is the lack of productivity at the top of the pitch despite the abundance of talent they have in their ranks.
Over the summer, Atletico Madrid spent over £100m on Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth, two players who scored 43 goals and provided 18 assists between them for Manchester City and Villareal last season. However, so far this season, the duo have only combined for nine goals and three assists.
To compound matters, Antoine Griezmann is also having a poor season by his usual high standard. The talismanic Frenchman has scored just three times in La Liga so far and needs to get going as a matter of urgency as far as Atletico Madrid are concerned.
All three men will look to find some rhythm and form against a Las Palmas side that have already shipped 19 league goals this season.
Predicted line-ups
Atletico remain without Cesar Azpilicueta, Clemen Lenglet, Pablo Barrios, Robin Le Normand and Marcos Llorente for this one while Thomas Lemar is a doubt. Las Palmas have fewer injury concerns with Marvin Park and Adnan Januzaj their only absentees.
Atletico Madrid: Oblak – Molina, Witsel, Gimenez, Reinildo – Gallagher, De Paul, Koke – Sorloth, Alvarez, Griezmann
Las Palmas: Cillessen – Rozada, Suarez, McKenna, Munoz – Campana, Essugo – Fuster, Rodriguez, Moleiro – Silva
Anything else catch the eye?
Las Palmas come into this one with a spring in their step following their first win of the season – a 3-2 win at the Mestalla. While the win was an anomaly, the fact the match saw more than two goals wasn't – all but one of their away league fixtures this season have produced three goals or more. Over 2.5 goals to be scored has been priced at 8/13 by Betfred.
