Ipswich Town vs Leicester City

, KO: 15:00 Nov 2, 2024, Portman Road
Leicester City

Ipswich Town will take on Leicester City on Saturday, 2 November in what could turn out to be a huge match in the context of this season's Premier League relegation battle.

The hosts are still searching for their first win since promotion to the Premier League but will feel that this match is a great opportunity to get that monkey off their back.

Leicester, meanwhile, are currently five points ahead of the Tractor Boys and will relish the opportunity to make that gap eight points on Saturday.

How the bookies view it: The hosts start as the narrow favourites

Despite currently being winless in the Premier League, the bookies have made Ipswich Town the marginal favourites for this one. A win for the hosts has been priced at 13/10 while a win for Leicester City has been priced at 21/10. The draw, which would be a better result for the visitors, has been priced at 5/2.

Recent head-to-head: Nothing to split them

This will be just the third meeting between these two clubs in the past ten years with the previous two both coming last season in the Championship. Both of those matches finished 1-1 which wasn't at all surprising considering they were the two standout teams in the division last season.

Players to watch: Delap to fire Tractor Boys to victory?

Although Ipswich are yet to win a game this season, there have been plenty of reasons for optimism. The biggest reason is arguably their new striker, Liam Delap. The former Man City man has settled in brilliantly to Kieran McKenna's system at Ipswich and he has netted five Premier League goals already but it's in games like this one where his goals will matter the most.

Last weekend, Delap started as a substitute which raised eyebrows among the club's supporters. There are no injury concerns surrounding the 21-year-old and he may end up benefitting from the rest, even if he did end up coming off the bench to score against the Bees. He will almost certainly come back into the starting XI against Leicester.

Looking to lead Leicester to victory on Saturday will be club legend, Jamie Vardy. The 37-year-old has shown that he can still cut it in the top flight this season, scoring four goals in nine league outings for the Foxes and after being rested in the week, he will be fresh for this one.

Predicted line-ups

Ipswich are missing up to ten players for this one as Kieran McKenna battles with an early-season injury crisis. Notable absentees include Chiedozie Ogbene, Harry Clarke and Axel Tuanzebe. Leicester are missing some key players, too, including Victor Kristiansen and Hamza Choudhury.

Ipswich Town: Muric – O'Shea, Woolfenden, Burgess, Davis – Cajuste, Phillips – Burns, Chaplin, Szmodics – Delap

Leciester City: Hermansen – Pereira, Okoli, Faes, Justin – Winks, Ndidi – Fatawu, Buonanotte, Mavididi – Vardy

Anything else catch the eye?

This is a fixture that should produce goals at both ends of the pitch. Both teams have scored in four of Ipswich's last five matches while the same can be said for eight of Leicester City's nine league matches this season. Both teams to score on Saturday has been priced at 4/7 by Betfred.
