Tuesday’s Racing Tips – Ventara looks a solid pick at Chepstow on Tuesday

Cairnzy's sole selection of Monday, Buddy One didn't jump the best in his race which saw a lot of non-runners. When it's a three-runner race it can get muddly, but Buddy One ran from the front and tried to set the fractions to his liking but his jumping let him down massively on his second chase start.

Rizzel has had a few things pop up recently and needs to catch up with the p/l for the month, so he'll try to get it out on tomorrow's thread.

Rizzel's Tips

One More Stroke 8/1 EW – Bangor-on-Dee 2.57

I though that it was worth chancing a chase debutante in this race, and given there are quite a few to pick from, I believe On More Stroke is the one to be on.

In terms of hurdle form, I think One More Stroke rates at the top of the list and I think he can carry top weight to victory, as long as he is fit and ready to do so, and can obviously jump a fence. The latter doesn't concern me all too much as he has had two runs in PTPs, finishing as runner-up in both.

He is 2/3 over hurdles, winning two novice races, one with a penalty, before finishing 3rd/5 on his handicap debut in a better race than today's opposition. The penalty-carrying win over Breizh River looks like a cracking piece of form, and if you were to read it literally, then One More Stroke looks like a shoo-in for today's race. The runner-up has started his life over fences in great style, winning three of four during the summer and is now rated 135.

There are some coming into today's race with winning form, but the level of that form doesn't sit at the top of the list in my opinion, and I think the likes of Iron D'Ex and Icare Grandchamp can be brushed aside by a newcomer.

Ventara 4/1 – Chepstow 2.00

Similar to the above race, this looks like a very poor race and I'd only give three horses a strong chance in this, and the Skelton horse is only in that argument because he was strongly fancied last time out. The other two I had down were Ventara and Imperial Jade and I ended up going for Ventara based on the form line behind Ito Ditto and being ahead of Just Over Land which reads as great form in comparison to today's opposition.

Obviously, at this time of year, many horses are making their returns and it is always going to be tricky with what horses will run well the first time out etc, but with the Tizzard yard being amongst the winners I think Ventara is worth a shot and a gamble on his fitness. He only ran twice last season, one being in this particular race, and this is the race in which he was behind Ito Ditto. The winner went on to win a further two times and is now rated 123 rated. The third horse is now rated 16lbs and 18lbs higher over hurdles and fences since running in this race last year, so the form is cracking.

Last time out Ventara ran over further, which now have suited and I'm hoping a return to today's venue and shorter trip can be the winning combination.
