Kind of Blue had a couple of sentences written up before I swapped him out, as regular readers will know, that increased his chancing of winning tenfold – which he did. It is truly agonising to continuously make the same error but dwelling on it won't help, I suppose I'd rather this than being totally on the wrong tracks.

That would have set us up for a profitable day with We'renotreallyhere hitting the frame. The final selection is yet to run but after some early support vibes aren't overly strong.

Attacanter's Tips

Favouri De Champdou 8/1 five places – 15.50 Limerick

Favouri De Champdou sits near enough the top of the market, you'll typically be losing a bit of value backing an Elliot/Kennedy runner as the bookies don't like to expose themselves too much but the horse has proved himself at this level before and can feature if primed.

Last seen back in April when narrowly winning a Grade 3 over 3 mile at Limerick, the horse is quite a lightly raced 9-year-old, last November he was winning on only his second Chase start, it was again over 3 mile in a Grade 2 contest, he ran out a 14 length winner with Sandor Clegane, Flooring Porter and Maxxum all in behind.

Last season he made his seasonal reappearance on his Chase debut, he was a close enough 2nd, the trainer will certainly have other days in mind for him but I am ready to risk him today. The trainer has 7 runners in this, the way things are going for me at the moment, an outsider of his is likely to get the job done but my selection has more boxes ticked than most.

El Champo 7/1 four places – 16.25 Limerick

El Champo caught my eye, most likely because he is in red silks, the most alluring of colours. Either way, I have decided to check him over and will keep him in having mulled over a few others at prices which have just as much if not more to prove.

The horse won two hurdle races at Galway in this month last year, he hasn't really gone close since but his previous runs have all resulted in 2nd place finishes. He's been switched to Chasing since May which has seen an uptick in form, that culminated in August when a 1.25 length 2nd to Walnut Beach in Listed company at Killarney over 2m4f. That form is by no means remarkable but now in a handicap with an apprentice back on board, he is entitled to run into the places.

Back in May he placed in a similar contest off, the winner a couple lengths to the good is in this today 13lbs worse off. We run off 111 only 2lbs lower than a 7 length 2nd in September, that was before being upped to 3 mile in a small 4 runner affair. I can't say his win prospects are overly solid but going by what's been achieved to date, he is capable of featuring.

Breakdance Kid 8/1 – 15.45 Sedgefield

Breakdance Kid won two races over the larger obstacles this year, in what is his first season chasing since quickly leaving hurdling behind last season. The father and son combination run a small yard in Scotland, they pop up enough throughout the season to be considered today and I thought a chance was worth taking.

The horse dips his toes into Class 4 company again after coming back to Kelso off a 3 month break, he was a tame enough 5th but I do respect the rivals that day and we could certainly see him perform betternow a little more race ready.

The yard is in top order, and their last two runners have won, whilst across the board there is a decent level of consistency, my choice is the bigger-priced runner of the two out today, being near top weight isn't what I like to see in such a contest but he is entitled to do himself justice having won over 3 mile in June by 14 lengths when also carrying top weight.

Glory and Honour 6/1 – 16.20 Sedgefield

The Durham National attracts plenty of horses who have something to prove so I thought I could take a chance on a horse representing owner's who do well in staying events, their best results seem to come with Mark Walford and Jamie Hamilton – a jockey who is on one carrying the same colours for Rebecca Menzies, a horse recently purchased from Willie Mullins.

This could well be the least likely of the three the England's bring to Sedgefield today having had much more success of late with their flat runners but I'll take a chance despite all signs seemingly pointing to him tailing off and being pulled up, being saved for his entry in a few weeks over a much shorter trip at Aintree.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
