Places should be easy enough to come by with this much racing so two landing yesterday isn't much to write home about but we did at least avoid a total drubbing. Today could go one of two ways, the first selection perhaps carries the most risk but all seem to have fair place claims.

Attacanter's Tips

Unequal Love 11/1 four places – 13.55 Ascot

Champion's Day at Ascot draws upon us with some exciting-looking races to round off the flat season. The Sprint Stakes sees the two most recent winners of the race return; Kinross is a fading market leader whilst Art Power is once again a big price.

A repeat feat would see a first seven-year-old winner in a race where the more mature sprinters have held sway with only two 3-year-olds having won since Muhaarar in 2015.

I was very tempted to land on Montassib who as a 6-year-old is enjoying a purple patch, having won a Group 1 last time at Haydock. The 2nd that day was Kind of Blue who is half-brother to the trainer's two previous winners of this race Deacon Blues and The Tin Man which I almost chanced him off the back of now purchased by Wathnan Racing.

Admittedly there aren't enough boxes ticked but I have decided to take the 3rd from that race, Unequal Love. She represents William Haggass whose one win in this race came back in 2008.

Tipping a horse to win this race with only the Wokingham under its belt isn't ideal but she does seemingly have a preference for tough enough tracks with wins here, Newmarket and Pontefract. The ground I am hoping will be manageable enough for her and despite the opposition today, she goes in.

Mr Professor 12/1 five places – 16.35 Ascot

It is unfortunately I am siding with yet another horse with enough to prove in a race where many stones have been left unturned.

My selection comes here having been off the track for four months, in a race at this track at the Royal Festival when 20th in a handicap over 7f on firm ground.

The horse has a clear preference for soft going which is on the menu today, that is a big positive now 5lbs above his last win back in March at Doncaster. That form does indicate he is capable of mixing it once again today, the 1.5 length 2nd is in this 1lb worse off whilst plenty in behind have wins to their name.

Not Just Yet 10/1 four places – 19.30 Wolverhampton

I was all set to risk Professor Tickle in this who could be about to end a lengthy run of bad performances, but we'll stick to the form book for now and hopefully catch him at a later date.

Not Just Yet's form over C&D two starts back was just too hard to get away from. On just his second start Saffie dropped her out the back leaving her with plenty of work to do, she snuck up the inside bypassing most of the field to go down by a neck to Monsieur Patat, a horse with a C&D win over 1f further. He actually runs in the 18.00 at this track which could be an indicator. The 3rd has two 2nds to his name since, the 4th had a win then won immediately after, the 5th won on his second start after this.

That was back in August, upped to 7f early last month again here didn't work out but with Saffie back on board over six, she should be capable of outrunning her 10/1 price with the extra place a bonus.

We'renotreallyhere 6/1 four places – 17.30 Wolverhampton

This selection doesn't jump off the page in a low-quality affair but does have a recent pleasing effort over today's C&D to his name which entitles him to be involved once again just 1lb higher.

The trainer and Rhys Clutterbuck have had a pleasing set of results recently, a low-key effort last time is easy enough to forgive from a consistent enough type having a win and a few 2nd's this season.

Although well beaten on the recent 2nd here, the horse had a 7lb claimer on and hasn't raced since, he was really well weighted and for me is a strong enough marker. Waleyfa was in behind coming into the race off two wins and a 2nd. With an extra place all being well, he's competitive enough at the price.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
