ENGLAND are just 1-10 to get knocked out of the World Cup at the group stages according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies had slashed England to 4-5 to qualify following Wayne Rooney's maiden World Cup goal but Luis Suarez's late strike leaves the side long odds-on not to make it to the last 16 with odds of 5-1 offered about Roy Hodgson's side progressing. And to be honest that should be more like 50-1.

Hodgson is 3-1 to be replaced before the start of the Euro 2016 qualifiers with Harry Redknapp installed as the 5-1 favourite to take over.

Suarez is 2-1 to leave Liverpool this summer and Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Donohue said: “Mathematically there's still a chance but only the most optimistic fan will be backing England to get out of the group now.

“The defeat doesn't definitely mean the end of the road for Roy but the odds of Redknapp replacing him have been cut significantly.”

Next England manager

Harry Redknapp 5/1
Gary Neville 6/1
Jose Mourinho 10/1
Arsene Wenger 14/1
Brendan Rodgers 16/1
David Beckham 25/1
San Allardyce 33/1
Alex Ferguson 50/1

Not this manager merry go round again the only man who even has a remote chance of winning anything with this lot is fergie and he is dye in wool Scottish. Don’t think he would ever touch the poison chalice that is the England job. Like red knapp but honestly what is he going to bring that Capello etc couldn’t

At 7/1 England are worth a small punt to qualify.

Italy to beat Costa Rica by two goals

    Italy to beat Uruguay

    England to beat Costa Rica

Would you bet against any of those? I wouldn’t! (maybe the last one)

As an England fan its disappointing to have lost two games but to be fair I think once again we haven’t had the luck at all. Played well against Italy who were ultimately just too good for us and tonight we should have been playing ten men after 25mins. Other than that no excuses. Suarez proved he is world class. It was always going to be a tough group and with that you need a bit of luck. Compared to the last World Cup I don’t think you can have a pop at the English lads. They’ve give their all and look like falling short and to be fair its what was expected in a tough group.

craigboy, Italy are bound to rest players if they beat Costa Rica – so that’s the game that would worry me.

I agree Mr F but surely at odds of 7/1 its certainly worth a small punt. Ultimately theres very little difference in England losing or drawing tonight. For both outcomes we were relying on other teams. For me 7’s is too big to not have a small gamble…time will tell.

CRAIGYBOY you need luck yes but that 2nd goal England lost last night was schoolboy stuff .Someone must have been told he was on Suarez for the duration.Cavani is a class act too.Well I posted at the start England not to win a game @4/1 was a good call looking good the now.I will be on Costa Rica at 7/1 v England.Bear in mind as well England have now played 4 games without a win.

craigboy, if you like the 7-1 for England to qualify then do it – also anyone who backed them not to qualify should be on. I just don’t see it happening now.

Harry says in his autobiography that he wouldn’t want the England job after being snubbed last time around. He was convinced that he was going to be asked and only found out that Woy had got it when he heard a news report on his car radio.
He says that the FA want a certain type of manager and he doesn’t fit the requirements. Shame as he is just the type of person needed.

Murph cant agree with you on Redknapp not really done much at club level and was very fortunate to get QPR back to Premiership.

Mr F you say they will rest players if they win tonight but surly they will want to top the group they will be on 6 PTS , if they rest players and lose there last game they will both be on 6pts and will go to goal difference why risk that ! I agree that 8-1 worth a small punt

Bomber Harris, they’ll want to win the group. But if they beat Costa Rica a draw against Uruguay will put both side through if England do what they need against Costa Rica. And when the Italians need a draw they usually get it.

If you fancy England to still qualify it might be better to do the games as a treble.Paddy Power are offering 11-2 to qualify but between 9 and 10-1 on the two possible outcomes including either England or Italy -1 against Costa Rica.Dont see Italy risking having to play Columbia instead of Ivory Coast, they might rest Pirlo if they win by a couple.

England are in this position due to their own actions and deserve to go out as you simply can’t win games if you can’t defend and if you can’t win games you don’t deserve to be in the cup I hope they go out and learn something from this because let’s be honest they won’t get past the last 16 especially if they have to play Colombia which is looking likely as they will win group c

Waahhaa oor Alex should be astronomical odds surely, he would never manage an English side anyway, purely by his very own Caledonian choice. How aboot Terry Butcher reinstated at similar odds he does no bad at teams that linger near the bottom and with some success in relegation matters I might add, have heard he’s oot of work at the mo :)
