Football Bet of the Day 23rd august

After making it five successive winners in Belgium on Friday, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Irish second tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection.

⚽️ Longford Town vs Wexford

🇮🇪 First Division

⏰ Saturday 21 September, 19:30

Wexford will look to climb up to third place in the Irish First Division table as they travel to Bishopsgate to take on bottom-side Longford Town in a fixture that appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Wayne Groves’ hosts have scored 32 goals across their opening 31 matches in the Irish First Division this term, with 16 (50%) of them coming on home soil.

The Town have found the back of the net in all bar three of their opening 15 league contests in front of their supporters – scoring in 10 of their previous 11 – and will look to get on the scoresheet once again at home against a Wexford defence that is the only one in the division yet to register a clean sheet away from home.

James Keddy’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in the Irish second tier, slamming in 52 goals across their opening 31 matches, with 27 (52%) of them coming on their travels.

The Youths have found the back of the net in a league-best 27/31 (87%) of their league contests – including in 13 of their last 14 away from home – and will be confident of getting on the scoresheet once again against a Longford defence that has kept just three clean sheets in the league this season, conceding a league-high 58 goals.

Bet of the Day

Wexford’s opening 31 contests in the Irish First Division are averaging a league-high 3.16 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in an impressive 24 (77%) of them – including in 13 of their last 14 away from home – whilst 11/15 (73%) of Longford’s league outings on home soil have featured goals at both ends.

The previous three league meetings between these two sides have produced 11 strikes, with Both Teams to Score banking on each occasion, and a repeat is the selection here.
