Alaves will take on Sevilla on Friday, 20 September with both clubs eying a win that would take them into the top half of the La Liga table.
Alaves are currently two points ahead of Sevilla after picking up seven points from their opening five fixtures and could move up to the fifth position with a win here.
Sevilla, meanwhile, picked up their first win of the season last week at home to Getafe and will be looking to build on that here.
How the bookies view it: The hosts go in as favourites
Alaves are the favourites to get the win on Friday night with the bookies seemingly still unconvinced about Sevilla despite their win last week. Betfred have priced a win for Alaves at 23/20 while a victory for Sevilla has been priced at 13/5. The draw, which wouldn't be a bad result for either team, has been priced at 11/5.
Recent head-to-head: Advantage Alaves
Alaves have performed well against Sevilla in recent seasons and are unbeaten across their last four league meetings with them. Last season, Alaves completed the double over Sevilla, winning 4-3 at home before winning 3-2 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. Sevilla's last win over Alaves came in the Copa del Rey in January 2023.
Players to watch: Sevilla to lean on experienced Navas
Sevilla earned their first win of the season last weekend when they scraped past Getafe at home and it wasn't all that surprising that their hero on the day was Jesus Navas.
The 38-year-old is now in his 18th season for Sevilla and is a certified club legend and although he is now more recognised as a full-back, his attacking tendencies are still there for all to see. Navas' goal last week may not have been the best or biggest of his career but it was an important one as it has relieved some pressure on the squad after a poor start to the campaign.
Last weekend marked Navas' first start of the season and he was back playing higher up the pitch. Given the experiment worked well, it feels likely that he will start in the front three again on Friday night.
The man that Alaves will look to for inspiration on Friday night will be Toni Martinez. The Spaniard only signed for the club at the end of August but has already scored two goals in three substitute appearances. He should now be ready for his start.
Predicted line-ups
Alaves are looking pretty strong ahead of this one with Hugo Novoa the only injury absentee. Sevilla have more problems, with Juanlu Sanchez set to serve a suspension following his red card against Getafe. Saul is also still serving a suspension while four other players, including Suso and Sami Lokonga, are out injured.
Alaves: Sivera – Tenaglia, Abqar, Sedlar, Sanchez – Guevara, Guridi, Blanco – Martinez, Garcia, Conechny
Sevilla: Nyland – Carmona, Nianzou, Marcao, Pedrosa – Gudelj, Sow, Peque – Navas Romero, Ejuke
