Another one of those “close but not quite close enough” moments yesterday as Capital Guarantee finished second having followed the same path of Glamorous Express the day before; tipped at a double-figure price, before being well backed, this time right down to 11/4. That’s racing, on we go with Tuesday.

Today’s NAP goes at Yarmouth, where the 16:05 is the race in focus. This may just be the right sort of opportunity for the very-lightly-raced Warrior’s Dance to get off the mark.
After two encouraging novice efforts at Wetherby and Chester, George Boughey’s runner ran modestly at Thirsk, shaping as if a greater test of stamina is what’s required. He gets that today.
Step up in trip set to suit
Each of the gelding’s efforts so far suggest that this step up in trip is what’s called for, while his pedigree is very much in line with that.
In terms of quality, his novice efforts would tell us that a race of this level is likely to be within his grasp before long. On debut, when running on for third over seven furlongs at Wetherby, he finished third, splitting a pair that have since won multiple races between them, now rating 82 and 96. Such form is not to be overlooked.
On his penultimate start, when again running on well over seven furlongs at Chester, he split another pair of subsequent winners, who are now rated 95 and 80. That effort tells me he ought to be capable of getting seriously involved here for a trainer who has had his fair share of success at Yarmouth.
For my money, he’s worth taking at 4/1, which probably won’t hang around too long. Don’t be surprised if he goes off a decent bit shorter. After all, in first-time cheekpieces, this rates as a decent opportunity for the gelding.
Based on a £10 level-stakes example, the Nap of the Day running profit is -£70 (since switching to being published here rather than on the ‘Nap of the Day' page).
