We’ve reached that time of year again, as the latest transfer odds dominate the airwaves in the final week of August.
The summer 2024 transfer window slams shut on Friday, so the time really is now for players and clubs alike to get deals over the line.
Here, we'll look at some of the betting ahead of some of the biggest potential deals, including a possible switch that has been rather accurately dubbed as the “ultimate betrayal”.

As possible Premier League transfers go, there’s lots to keep our eyes on, but here are our picks of the bunch.
Alexander Isak next club favourites: Chelsea (4/1)
Having enjoyed a fruitful campaign on Tyneside last time around, Newcastle forward Alexander Isak is a player that those top clubs looking for a striker will be keeping tabs on.
Chelsea are currently the favourites to pry the Swede away from the St. James’ Park, with Isak's odds to make the move standing at 4/1.
The Blues have Cole Palmer, while they also have a whole host of forward/wing-type players, but do they really have an out-and-out central striker? Not one of Isak’s level, arguably, so it’s not too difficult to see why the West Londoners may move for the Magpies' main hitman.
Let’s face it, if there’s one team that absolutely won’t hold back on going after someone, then it’s Chelsea – though their attempts to sign Isak could hinge on whether they can get Osimhen, who seems to be first choice.
If Isak does switch St. James’ Park for Stamford Bridge, then Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who may feel that he’s good enough to play for a club not fighting the drop, is the favourite to replace him at odds of 5/2.
Mohamed Salah next club favourites: Any Saudi club (7/2)
Another potential mover is Mohamed Salah, who is currently being put up as a 7/2 shot with most firms to join any team in Saudi Arabia.
Salah’s former Liverpool colleagues Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have already made their way to Saudi Arabia, so it’s far from out of the question that Salah follows the same path.
Right now, Salah is 7/2 to join any club in the Saudi Pro League, though the most likely suitors seem to be Al-Ittihad, where Fabinho currently plies his trade. He would also play alongside other former Premier League players, such as Moussa Diaby and N’Golo Kante.
Will he go down that road just yet? For my money, he remains at Liverpool for now, but a Saudi move in 2025 certainly seems plausible.
After all, the Egyptian has started well this season, and is second-favourite for the PL golden boot behind Erling Haaland, proving for now that he’s still got what it takes to deliver for a team with big ambitions.
Victor Osimhen next club favourites: Chelsea (2/1)
Despite signing a whole host of new players, as has become the norm for Chelsea every time a transfer window comes round, the Blues probably are still on the lookout for a consistent marksman.
Again, they have the likes of Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku, who between them can contribute bags of goals and assists, but none of those are proper centre forwards.
Nicolas Jackson remains at the club, but he’s failed to really make the central striker spot his own, while it seems unlikely that Joao Felix is going to do that any time soon.
Therefore, someone like Victor Osimhen is of interest. The Blues are quite fancied (by the betting) to go for the Napoli man in the coming days.
Osimhen is pacey, direct and a huge threat on the break, which bodes well given the way Chelsea played in their 6-2 victory over Wolves last weekend. Will he make the move? His transfer odds suggest that it's far from unlikely.
Other transfer odds markets to watch
Elsewhere, there’s the “ultimate betrayal” transfer, which could cause a stir. Everton academy graduate and key player Jarrad Branthwaite is now as short as 2/1 to do the unthinkable and leave Goodison Park for Anfield.
Liverpool are reportedly showing serious interest in the central defender, who has shown all the qualities necessary to suggest that he could thrive in a stronger team.
If we take odds of 11/8 and translate that into implied probability, the betting suggests there’s a 42.1% chance that Branthwaite will leave the Toffees behind and join their arch rivals.
Such a move hasn't been made since another defender, Abel Xavier, switched blue for red in January 2002.
