Two clubs separated by a single point in the Brasileirao Serie B table on Friday night as 11th-placed Ponte Preta plays hosts to ninth-placed Goias in a fixture that I’m keen to get the hosts on side.
Ponte Preta remain winless on their travels this campaign but secured just their fourth away point last time out as they salvaged a 1-1 draw at Coritiba.
However, Ponte Preta are a different animal at home, with Nelsinho Baptista’s men winning each of their last six and seven of their previous eight league contests in front of their supporters, with their solitary defeat in that run coming against leaders Santos.
The Macaca have scored 20 (83%) of their 24 league goals in front of their supporters, finding the back of the net in all nine of them and scoring on multiple occasions in five of their last eight.
Similarly to their opponents, Goias have struggled on their travels this term, collecting just eight points from a possible 30, with seven (88%) of them coming against three of the bottom six.
What’s more, The Verdao have lost six of their most recent seven away matches, only picking up points at basement boys Guarani in that run.
Goias’ defence has struggled on the road this campaign, registering a solitary clean sheet across their opening 10 road trips and none in their last eight, shipping multiple goals in five of their most recent seven away days.

As already alluded to, Ponte Preta have been incredibly strong at home this campaign, with The Macaca winning each of their last six and seven of their previous eight on home soil – with their only defeat in that run coming against leaders Santos.
