After delivering a hat-trick of winners in Scotland last weekend, SlipsTips shares two selections from Scottish League Two on Saturday afternoon.
Peterhead vs Stranraer (Saturday, 15:00)
Seeking to make it three wins on the spin in Scottish League Two, Peterhead square off with Stranraer at Balmoor on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Toon battled to a win over Bonnyrigg Rose on the opening day of the season before earning a last-gasp 2-1 win over Forfar last weekend.
Stranraer, on the other hand, threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with Spartans on matchday one and they have since lost 1-0 at pre-season title favourites Clyde.
Consequently, Peterhead head into this game as 4/5 (Bet 365) favourites and I’m more than happy to back the hosts to prevail at that price.
As already alluded to, Peterhead have made a perfect start to their league campaign but they will also draw confidence from their strong home record in recent times.
Jordon Brown’s side have avoided defeat in each of their last 10 Scottish League Two home games, claiming top honours from a sizeable seven of those contests.
It’s also worth noting that the Blue Toon got the better of Stranraer across that 10-game sample, triumphing 2-0 when the pair last crossed paths at this venue back in March.
Road losses were a recurring theme for the Blues last season, as they came away empty-handed from no fewer than 12 of their 18 league games away from their Stair Park base last term.
That wretched run coincided with Scott Agnew’s side only narrowly staving off the threat tumbling out of the SPFL last term, as they propped up the fourth tier and had to negotiate a nerve-shredding play-off with East Kilbride.
With that in mind, coupled with the fact that Stranraer fell to another away day defeat last weekend, backing a Peterhead side that have made a positive start to the season to pocket all three points makes plenty of sense at the prices.
On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I’m also going to take Peterhead to score two or more goals at 4/5 on Bet 365.
This bet would have proven profitable in five of Peterhead’s last six Scottish League Two home games and they look well placed to continue in that vein against their travel sick visitors.
