Saturday’s Football Tips: Will England’s Euro 2024 luck run out against the impressive Swiss?

ENGLAND have found a way to reach the Euro 2024 quarter-finals without playing well but they'll need to up their game tonight to see off an impressive Switzerland side.

While Gareth Southgate's men needed a last-gasp Jude Bellingham overhead kick to force extra-time against Slovakia in the last 16, the Swiss pretty much strolled to a 2-0 win over champions Italy.

They also came within seconds of beating hosts Germany in the group stage, so this is a tough tie for the Three Lions, and they will need a much-improved performance to reach the semis.

It had been feared talisman Bellingham might miss the game after UEFA launched an investigation into his controversial celebration of that iconic goal.

But grabbing his crotch didn't turn out to be an almighty balls-up, and he has copped a suspended one-game ban as well as a fine.

That's good news for Southgate as he will need some more Bellingham magic to KO the Swiss.

England vs Switzerland Top Betting Tips

The first two Euro 2024 quarter-finals were rather profitable for me and that was down to backing cards and the half-time draw.

This should be another tight match but backing the score to be level at the break pays only 9/10 with Betfred. I wouldn't be surprised if it went to extra-time and the full-time stalemate is 2/1.

Bellingham could make the difference once more for the English and he's 6/4 to either score or assist, which looks pretty decent value.

Switzerland will carry a threat as well and the pace of Dan Ndoye could cause problems. He has started every game so far and looks good at 6/5 for one or more shots on target.

Netherlands vs Turkey Top Tips

I've really enjoyed watching Turkey at Euro 2024 and not just because I've landed them in the MFT sweepstake.

All of their games have been exciting and the atmosphere has also been tremendous because of all the ex-pat fans cheering the Turks on in Germany.

But they had to ride their luck a little to get past Austria in the last 16, and the bookies reckon their adventure will end against the Dutch in the quarter-finals.

Betfred make the Netherlands 1/4 hot favourites to go through and that's probably because they were so impressive in their 3-0 win over Romania.

But Ronald Koeman's men needed two late goals to kill off that tie and we were wasteful once more in front of goal. Their defence hasn't convinced when put under pressure so BTTS and over 2.5 goals appeals here at 6/5,

We saw 17 corners in that clash with Romania with the Dutch winning 10 of them in the first half. That makes over 10.5 flag kicks a good option tonight at evens.

Virgil van Dijk has been a big threat at those corners and is also on the penalties for the Netherlands. So I like the 15/8 on offer for him to have one or more efforts on target.

Uruguay vs Brazil Top Tips

There's a Copa America clash of the titans in the early hours of Sunday morning as Uruguay take on Brazil in what could be the game of the tournament so far.

Marcelo Bielsa is working his magic once more with the Uruguayans and they breezed their group, winning every game and scoring nine goals in the process.

Brazil have been far less convincing and had to settle for the runners-up slot in Group D after drawing with Costa Rica and Colombia.

That makes this one a tough game to call and Betfred price both teams at 5/6 to qualify. Going for goals might be the best option and combining BTTS with over 2.5 strikes pays 8/5.

Things can get spicy in the knockout stages and I like the 5/4 on offer for Uruguay to collect most booking points.
