SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Friday night's Euro 2024 curtain-raiser between Germany and Scotland.
Germany vs Scotland (Friday, 20:00)
The much-anticipated Euro 2024 finals get underway on Friday night, when host nation Germany will face Scotland at the Allianz Arena.
Having suffered an early exit in each of their last three major tournament appearances, Germany will seek to make the most of home advantage this summer in their pursuit of glory.
As for Scotland, they will be looking to reach the knockout stages for the first time in their history, having failed to get out of their group in each of their previous three appearances at the Euros.
Our man Mark Walker already has you covered with an in-depth match preview of Friday night’s opening fixture, whereas I’ve put together a Bet Builder for Friday night’s curtain-raiser in Bavaria.
Backing Germany to Score, Germany to hit three or more corners and Scotland’s Callum McGregor to commit a foul will bring about a more-than-fair 4/5 play on Bet 365.
While Scotland put in a stellar showing during qualifying, their pre-Euro 2024 form doesn't make for great reading. Their only win across their last nine outings came against Gibraltar.
What’s more, Steve Clarke’s side have been conceding goals at an alarming rate in recent times, having shipped a minimum of two strikes across that nine-game sample.
As such, I’m more than happy to kick off the Bet Builder with at least one German goal, but to boost the odds, I’ll also back the hosts to earn a minimum of three corners.
Germany have covered the 3+ corner line in seven of their eight outings under Julian Nagelsmann’s watch, and they will almost certainly dominate possession here, which should, in turn, lead to the home team racking up their fair share of flag kicks along the way.
To complete the 4/5 (Bet 365), I’ll add in Scotland’s Callum McGregor to commit one or more fouls during this Group A opener.
The Celtic skipper averaged a shade under one foul per game during the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership season, not to mention he committed multiple misdemeanours in each of his final five outings of the season.
Going up against Germany in their own backyard on the biggest stage is clearly a big step up in class from the Scottish domestic scene, so foul magnet McGregor should have his work cut out in Munich on Friday night.
Recommended Bet
- Over 0 Germany Goals
- Over 2 Germany Corners
- Callum McGregor to Commit Over 0.5 Fouls
- Bet Builder – 4/5 (Bet 365)
