The knockout stage at Euro 2024 are upon us and the serious stuff now begins. After an excellent group stage in Germany, the round of 16 kicks off today with two David vs Goliath clashes.
The first match today pits Switzerland against the defending champions, Italy. This is usually the point of the competition where the Italians will kick into gear and they'll need to if they want to get past an impressive Swiss side.
Then, tonight, Germany will take on Denmark in Dortmund. The hosts managed to avoid a blockbuster tie with Italy courtesy of a late equaliser in their final group match but beating Denmark certainly won't be easy – just ask England.
Ahead of both matches, check out our Euro 2024 top tips.
Euro 2024 top tips – Day 16
Switzerland vs Italy betting tips – Under 2.5 goals
The opening knockout match at Euro 2024 is unlikely to be a match for the ages, thanks in large to how Italy set up under Luciano Spaletti. Two of their three matches at the tournament have seen under 2.5 goals scored as did five of their last six matches prior to the tournament starting.
Switzerland, meanwhile, don't play much more open so expect a slow, methodical match until the first goal goes in – if one does. Like Italy, two of their three matches at the tournament so far have seen under 2.5 goals as did six of their last seven prior to the tournament beginning.
The knockout stages are nearly always more cagey than group matches, too, which only adds to the likelihood of a low-scoring match. If Italy go 1-0 up, then it could be worth a look at the in-play market for under 1.5 goals, too.

Germany vs Denmark betting tips – Niclas Füllkrug to score anytime
So far at Euro 2024, Kai Havertz has led the line for Germany but is reportedly set to change on Saturday evening. According to reports in Germany, Niclas Füllkrug is set to be given the nod over the Arsenal man and deservedly so given his performances off the bench in the group stages.
Füllkrug has scored twice off the bench so far for Germany and had another ruled out for offside while Havertz has only scored from the penalty spot. This match is also taking place at his home stadium – Signal Iduna Park – so he will be familiar with and comfortable on the pitch which could prove important.
Denmark have the potential to frustrate Germany, but the players the Germans have in attacking positions around Füllkrug should mean that the Dortmund man gets plenty of chances to either score first or anytime in the match.
Niclas Füllkrug to score anytime is priced at 7/4 with Betfred.
